Am I crazy to pick up an Oly E-410?
« on: September 19, 2009, 12:09:49 AM »
OK, the E-P1 fueled my addiction for Olympus gear. I've accumulated enough OM lenses to keep me happy for a while; including an OM-1 and OM-10.

I am thinking about just getting a E-410 as a spare camera to use with just OM and M42 lens. I already have DSLR (Canon Rebel T1i /500D)  but it doesn't use OM lenses. I also like the fact the E-410 is SMALL and cheap $208 Ebay refurb from Olympus.

I've actually considered this as well. I've seen them in the $200 range very often, and it really doesn't look like that bad of a camera.

For very few dollars  more you can move to the E-420 which is one generation newer, and if I recall correctly, just a bit smaller than the 410. It does have advances over the 410 and can often be found between $200 and $250.

I just purchased an E420 to use as a back-up.  The size and price and the number of Olympus lenses I have were driving factors.  It is a refurbished by factory model, that should work like new (I haven't received it yet).
