I'll wait for the A99, that's too low spec for me!

lisandra, often you've posted various bits of info with no source... care to expand on that? Even if it's to say "a friend in the company who wants to remain anonymous said so..."

Taking it "as is" that sounds like it could be a strong contender assuming the issues on the current Axx are resolved. I'll assume the ghosting is inherent, which leaves the AF tracking and EVF display to address. Before we get into any argument on if there were issues, of course it depends on the type of photographer you are, and for some types, they were major deal breaker issues. An A77 would be targeted higher up for sure, and as such demands will be higher too. Headline figures don't mean a thing if they don't deliver the results at the end of the day.

SonyAlphaRumors suggest the A77 will be partnered with a more conventional A750 DSLR too.

(off topic: I do wonder what I'd be shooting now if I didn't jump ship from Sony to Canon a while ago. The main reason? No A750!).
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

I understand I never post the sources and that makes it a bit unbelievable, but on the things I've posted I've been right 95% of the time, and you can rest easy I dont make the stuff up as I go. For reference, everything i posted on the GH2 was right, except the ISO 25400, and even that I was told was taken off at the last minute. I also posted long ago panny would be making that f1.4 and that fast wide prime, they both turned out to be right, and that was when nobody knew it was gonna be between f1.4and f1.2. The other day I posted what I heard about the upcoming fast zoom, I'm confident about what I posted based on who told me. I know you're not trying to call me a liar or anything, but understand that if you would like to see me post more of these rumors, I cant say absolutely nothing on who told me. That said, the A77 is gonna have two pelice mirrors and thats all I can say about it.

Why would it be APS-H? That part doesn't make any sense.

Sony is trying to be cute and naming it APS HD, the sensor makes sense for them if they plan to sell their upcoming a750

Nice looking camera.

I've been thinking about the whole Sony A55-Axx pellicle concept for a few weeks now and my opinion is that this is a dead-end. Its tough coming up with different technology and you have to hand it to Sony for trying but I think Canon knows all about pellicle mirrors and there is a reason they don't do them anymore.

mirrorless is the future.

Just think of the a33/a55/a77 as the Phase Detect AF Mirrorless cameras with an old-skool Minolta lens mount.

It's gonna have two translucent mirrors in a setup I don't understand

One for VF and one for PD AF sensors probably.

Somebody told me about this before, a person who I trust, but it sounded so silly I didn't consider posting it. But today I saw it in alpharumors so here it is.

According to my sources Sony has chosen to use a completely new sensor for the upcoming professional SLT (Translucent) camera. The sensor will have 24 Megapixels but don’t worry, I have been told the noise performance of the sensor is equal if not better than current 14-16 Megapixels Sony sensors used for the NEX and A33/A55 cameras. It will feature the highest resolution APS-C camera on market (The Canon 7D is on top with the 18 Megapixel sensor). The Sony A77 will be released by mid 2011 because Sony needed time to develop an almost perfect camera. There will be many innovations (Paul Genge of Sony UK said that “this camera will include such high specification features that current A700 owners will be amazed“). It will have an improved BIONZ processor (based on the current A33/A55 processor), micro af adjustment and record 1080/30p, 720p60 and 720p30

Im still getting different rumors on sensor size (APS C vs APS H) but to me 24 mp on APS C is stupid. And I still dont understand the two mirror setup

I don't see a problem with 24MP on APS-C other than storage size and processing limiting in camera. That's a lot of pixels to shift fast.

Now, 24MP on APS-H is interesting as the density gives about 16-18MP on APS-C (assuming 1.3x vs 1.5x or 1.6x crop factor).

A two mirror setup could make sense as long as you totally ignore the drawing they keep posting on that site which has some serious faults.

the drawing itself is what I have problems understanding.

This is an oooold topic, but the specs are 98% official:
    new 24mp APS-C sensor
    3 Million dots OLED viewfinder
better viewfinder with faster refresh but no hybrid mode like Fuji X100
dual memory slot , support CF+SD+MS memory card
    better autofocus
better body built , magnesium allow
    no flip-up mode
    full HD
high ISO ,  up to hundreds of thousands 102.400 ?? ( I told you)
long battery capacity able to shoot 1000 pictures per charge (hard to beleive)
on level with Canon EOS 60D

Body only is rumored around 1200$, the 24 mp still dont seem like a good idea to me, but then again the A950 is rumored at a ridiculous 35mp. Its one thing to be bold and increase 4-5 mp but 8-9??? Has their technology gotten THAT much better sine the A55? I find it difficult to believe...and I really hope panny stops playing the 1up game with them, its getting ridiculous
On a side note, Im extremely excited about the 3 million dot viewfinder! Thats higher (theoretically) than 720p!

As always, don't confuse list with street pricing. It'll probably drop from that after launch. Even taking it at face value, that's only a bit more than 60D and comparable to the D7000 based on a quick look at US prices.

And m4/3 *IS* expensive.

The price unfortunately, is the most consistent piece of info out there. Optimists are hoping for a 950$ body only, but below 1100$ is apparently unlikely.

It would defensibly set the bar a lot higher for C/N and maybe P. But P doesn't always follow the crowd.
