"this guy walks into a camera shop......"
« on: July 28, 2011, 07:26:56 PM »
yeah,...well...

 "this guy walks into a camera shop,[adorama],....... and the guy behind the counter says ,     " how you liking that 12mm lens?" [ bought by yours truely  last thursday] ....." i sold 7 more of  them, just like that , people seem to like em"...

so the guy [me], says .... "well yeah .... its really an awesome lens, the best olympus m zukio lens to date , in my opinion....im lovin it too,....big time  :)

he nods knowingly.

so i say ," what about that ep3 you said would probablly be in this week"
"no....... nothing yet, i checked today......."

'ok then ...[a little dissapointed]

what about the x 100 ? I say ," you know  its like over 5 weeks im on preorder for this thing , im like number 70 out of about 100 preorders , ........what does the computer say?"

you want an x 100? i think i have one left....."what ! how can that be ?"im preordered for 5 weeks!"
......"well we got 2 in the store today  and one sold" i think we still got one left , ...let me check ... yes still have one left [ time 7:50 pm , 10 mins to closing!}

" um , yeah ill take it ...[ counting money... plus 800 dollar deposit , equals..hmm?]
............whats it come to ? 8)

"
unboxed over an iced tea at bed bath and beyond , [the cafe is clean and uncrowded] 8)

wha..?  who??   oh rats i woke up :D

yes i wa s happy but oddly i was expecting the ep3 ,id almost give up on the x 100, and was there to use my 800 down pmt toward the e-p3. i was happy but felt odd cause i was dying to use the 12m on the new oly body

the iq of the x 100 is unbelieveable... iso 6400 looks like iso 1600on my ep1
iso 800 on the x 100 looks better to me than iso 200 on my e p1[imho]
sharpness, color , white bal. are all over the top ,my jaw is dropping

Congrats!, cosinaphile.  What the song say?:  'It's been a long, looong time' (don't remember who's singing, it's a r&b tune, though, - and good.  5 weeks, there's no sense in that.  I'm having that kind of story with the Zuiko 12mm/f2.0.  Service and 'make an effort' is not in the vocabulary around her (when talking about shops, that is, - sort of 'greek' to them).

Think I forgot to mention it in that post, - but the two pics I just posted (actually the same candid, in two versions), came from that wondermachine.  You'll come to love it a lot, 100% sure.  "Slit 'an", as we say in Norway, - actually meaning 'use it (the camera) a lot', or rather 'until it breaks', - something similar to 'break a leg', as you have in the States.  (Theres a X100 set in my flickr account, as well).

Awaiting a lot of 12mm/f2.0 & X100 pics from you in the coming weeks, cosinaphile!

I guess this is what DXOMark means by measured ISO vs manufacturer ISO.  Their results are always based on measured ISO.  The X100 has stellar SNR and Dynamic Range numbers.

Some SNR 18% comparisons @ measured ISO 6400
X100 = 29.1 Db
Nikon D3s = about 26-27 Db
Canon 1Ds Mark IV = about 23-22 Db
GH2 = about 17-18 Db
EP-3 = about 15-16 Db

thanks macroqueen,err i mean lisandra, the first is in 120 degree panorama mode
the mode allows 120 or 180 degrees vertical or horozontal panning to achieve 1 long picture file , here i set the direction to pan to up,you get some strange distortions
with straight lines near the edge of the frame, like a fisheye i guess

the latter picture was shot thru the windows of a municipal bldg at night , i shoulda shot at 1600 at  1\30  or 1\40  sec but by the time i figured that out the moment had passed

i like the last one alot too :)
