Im still on the fence about the A77, the A65 is a 24 mp A55, which I can stand less and less every day ergonomics wise...sometimes you gotta be a finger gymnast to deal with that camera
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

I still don't understand the real point of the A65, it's kind of just crammed between two other models, but too close to them.

well..there is is a point sort of with the a65, and its something to applaud sony for. Its the sensor of the a77 in a more affordable body. But once you start looking into the specs you realize the 65 is very very far away from the 77, ergonomically wise at least. Shoot without focus confirm, top auto ISO, 1/3 stop ISO increments, minimum auto ISO, button LAYOUT, proper focus assist, customizability, micro af adjust, just to name a few.

BUT, this are things I need professionally, an entusiast will have more than enough with the layout and stuff of the A55 in the 65 and will enjoy the detail of the a77 in the a65

Sony has been very good at having models using a better sensor (the selling point), in a less featured camera. The 1st DSLRa they made, where similar in steps after the first 2 or so years.
Sony tries to get every sliver of the market share they can. And they do.
