'NEX-C3 To Have Pentax K-5 High ISO Performance?'
« on: July 04, 2011, 06:41:08 PM »
Let's see what we can put together here...

Fact: Sony α580, Pentax K-5, & Nikon D7000 all share the same flavor 16mp Sony sensor.

Fact: NEX-C3 has a 16mp sensor.

Assumption: NEX-C3 will have the same 16mp sensor that's in the α580 (K-5/D700) & will perform similarly as the K-5/α580/D7000 at high ISO...

And before anyone says it, I know what "they say" about assumptions..... :D

If,  I say if it all pans out, the only difference will be the 2 fold....
The Firmware and the CPU used to precess the images.

Like the Panny LX5  and the Leica clone.
Many say the Leica firmware does a better job with noise and color processing than the Panny.
And how do we know this same sensor isn't tweaked for each clients specks?

I'm pretty sure SONY could build that into each sensor, so each client gets what they want.

That's why I said same FLAVOR of the α580 sensor  :D  All 3 have the same basic α580 and in the case of Pentax & Nikon, built to their specifications....

so, it COULD have a580 performance...
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Which isn't a bad thing when you're trying to shoot action shots with the M.  Zuiko 75-300  ;)

Buy a monopod. A monopod is much cheaper than a new camera body, folds easily, and can also be used for self-defense or as a hiking pick in the mountain:

BTW, E-PL2 is much cleaner than E-P1/E-P2.

Nah...I prefer more instant mobility than the mono-pod provides....
And I have an E-PL2

I know you have E-PL2. A monopod is much more mobile than a tripod and it should attain much of the hand-held photographer's mobility.
I understand your point - you have a light camera and a light telephoto lens, that you want to keep in your hands while running on by the white line. Not sure it can be done yet, as at 300mm you should keep the speed faster than 1/300, or at least 1/600 if IS is disabled. That will happen in sunlight, but not sure in overcast condition.
Maybe you need to attach a ZD 300/2.8 to an E-P3, but neither price nor mobility will be the same.

Yep....
I shoot at 1/640 minimum for action......that means 1600-3200 ISO with the M. Zuiko 75-300....

If this NEX-C3 is true to form with the NEX-7 to have the even better a77 sensor, I may jump ship totally from MFTs since I already have 2 Sony primes...
