Hand-Held Twilight mode of my NEX-3, straight out of camera...18-55 Kit lens, 55mm focal length.....no flash....1/8 shutter speed...(and REALLY dark out along with quite a bit of distance from the subject.)

Sweet.

I don't think people realize how dark these scenes are because twilight makes it look so bright.

If you want a scene to look darker, as it really was, put some negative exposure compensation. Oh, I am sorry, how much menu-clicking will that require?

ooo snap! ;D come on...he must know it and accepted it by now, don't rub it in ;)...
Panther that is really freaking clean and that's not even what's impressive here, what really blows my underwear away is the 1/8 shutter speed. Aside from noise control, that has got to be the coolest feature of HHT, sharp images at minimal shutter speeds (it was handheld I presume). It must have been pitch dark in there for a shutter speed that low at ISO 6400, please don't get mugged and killed just to bring us good stuff ;)
P.S. is your plan to force me into buying a sony?

How many exposures of 1/8 each did it take to form this picture?

Lisandra,
6 shots were taken at 1/8 shutter speed....I must admit that when I read the manual about HHT mode, I thought it was a gimmick......But now that vie actually used it, I'm here to say that it's definitely a good to have tool....

adash,
Not nearly as many clicks as one uses in photoshop ;)

Exposure compensation does not need to be adjusted in Photoshop. What a pity, I don't even have Photoshop installed!

Oh and yes Lisandra,
It was really dark (and Travfar knows what I'm talking about).....

Probably next week, I'll post some in-camera HDR shots now that I have a somewhat decent handle on how to do it to my liking ......(which is more on the subtle side)...

It is possible to enjoy both Olympus & NEX in a negative vibe free environment......I've done so personally along with a couple of other Olympus owners in other arenas.... 8)

Negative vibes don't really matter. No matter how negative the vibes are in an internet forum, it is always a pleasure to have a drink or two with fellow members.

now that you're familiar with it, would you want control over ISO like the A33/55? or do you feel that would just complicate things? I read on an alpha thread it would be a matter of a firmware to make it so on the nex, would you want it or do you feel comfortable with the camera taking over?

On the p&s shutter speed doesn't go lower than 1/8 of a second regardless of how dark it is. The nex too?

It won't run on Ubuntu Linux. And I can't afford a license also.

No offense, but that photo isn't really that great. I hope you were using it as a sample.

Hmm.......
Looks good to me compared to a Pentax K-x at ISO 6400 (and the Pentax is cropped to a smaller resolution)

Are you talking about the photo itself? (subject and composition) or are u reffering to noise/ sharpness?
