More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Fixed the link, it was doubled for some reason. That has happened with when trying to embed a URL with my iPad.

That is good for many, a fast FPS rate. I like bigger buffers though, to keep shooting RAW, without stopping, I may not shoot that fast, so, as long as the can keep clearing on the go, I'm good.

Theoretically, that means it has to be able to do PD-AF.

9 frames per second sounds great until you realise the RAW buffer will only allow you 11 shots. It is all over in 1.25 seconds.

I think continuous shooting buffers that give you less than 3 seconds are more for the marketing department that the person using the camera. I assume the 'L' speed will be around 3fps - if so, a 17 shot buffer is good.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Would you rather have 3fps for 40 frames or 9 fps for 11 frames?

11 frames at 9fps is more useful than everyone thinks. A second is all you need really. a 10fps 5 second buffer is going for just plain luck.

processor speeds is the "limit" here.

At huge factor is the speed at which the buffer can flush to disk.  There are pros and cons to having too large of a buffer.  The biggest con is that data in the buffer is volatile, meaning if the camera has an error for whatever reason you just lost your buffer and all of your shots sitting in the buffer.  Not only that, but data sitting in the buffer is also wasting processor cycles to maintain the data integrity.  The sooner the data is on disk the safer it is.  Class 10 SD cards are spec'd at 10MB/s.  Some SDHC and SDXC cards also support UHS interface which can do theoretically 104MB/s.  The question is will the OM-D support UHS-I up to 104MB/s?  The EP-3 does support up to 30MB/s in testing, which results in 6 seconds to clear the buffer with 12 RAW files.

Usually a dual processor is required for that sort of thing, which requires twice as much room in the camera itself.

so then dual why not ?

put 2 separate cores and have e em swap duties !
a processor to store and dump into a card store and dump int a card  etc , and if the camera had a 2 gig high speed buffer that wrote to internal flash mamory that later could be transferred to the users SD cards tiny processors are all thats needed and im sure they are not expensive

thinkin out loud  here

That would make the camera extremely larger.

The EP-3 does have a dual core processor.  TruPic VI is dual core.

The dual core processor also means image processing and live view can be run in parallel, decreasing the blackout time after each shot.

There's a difference between dual processors and dual cores.

Multi-Core CPU's share the same L1/L2 memory, where Dual CPU's have their own L1/L2 memory among other things ?
