heres some quotes from the dp forum back when the world was trying to get their mitts on an x 100

"In Poland you can get the "cheapest" one for 4400 Polish zloty (~ $1630).}"

"In the Uk £1000 which equates to $1580.Its a very good camera but value for money i dont think so.As soon as all customers are supplied and waiting lists are gone price will drop like a stone."

"Paid 115,000 yen for mine, which is roughly $1400. Money well spent IMO.

I was doing my math the same as Eureka, but Cosina, I hope you're right.  I'll still have to sell my truck, but maybe I'll have enough for a cheap lens as well!

@cosinaphile:  I'll tell you something you probably already know about camera and camera related prices:  Prices in USofA is the world's lowest, - and that's incl. of tax (or VAT, if you like).  In 2005 I decided to buy for quite a few funds in gear, as I previous to that, - for the latest few years had been shooting P&S cameras, in addition to my 'old' film cameras.  I summed-up the cost to buy it in Norway, where I then lived&worked.  The result, - comparing the the actual costs, were that I got myself & my wife airplane tickets, and we both had a short week's tour/re-tour-trip to NewYork & Washington!  The 'extra cost' was not covered a 100%m - but not far from!  [. . . and, yes, I purchased for more than just a few dollars! :-)].  Since that time the situation has bettered, - more comparable prices now, - but still it's easily sums up quite a bit.

One typical examle: A Pana/Lumix mFT lens, the fisheye 8mm:  B&H, tax incl.:

          B&H, NY, tax incl.:        US$   685
          HongKong, shop-price   US$   640 (HK$ 5000)
          Oslo, Norway                US$ 1250 (NOK 7495)

Another example, - The new EOS 1D X ($7200, tax incl. - NOK 49995), and a couple of quality glass, say the EF70-200/2.8L IS, MkII ($2255 - NOK 17500) & EF14mm/f2.8, MkII ($2400 - NOK19200):

          B&H, NY, tax incl.         US$ 11855
          Oslo, Norway                NOK 86695 - (=US$ 14500 !)  . . . which mean you can spend US$ 2600 on a NY-trip if you happens to live in Norway. (A NY-air-ticket typically costs abt. $600, thus US$ 2000 plus on hotel, food & fun!).

Btw, - The Pana/Lumix 7-14_  In NY, - US$ less than a grand, - in Norway dollars 1750,- .

You get my point, don't you.  :) :D

Interesting that it'll be modeled after the original OM-1. Anything unique about that camera?

Do you mean other than the fact that it represented previously unachieved levels of compactness in a professional camera body?

It also had the biggest and brightest viewfinder of any SLR to date. It still holds up well against even the most expensive pro-DSLRs.

Too high? Just right for a weather sealed body with an integrated EVF that looks like the OM series of cameras?

Only interesting if the EVF looks like this one, if not i wont't buy a camera to see in in very bad life scene preview of the world (like all EVF actually)

I don't think so...
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

So while we have nailed down a more accurate exchange rate, the rumored price has ratcheted right back up to the $1500 range with lens.  Rats.
