Even more on the Olympus OM-D
« on: January 18, 2012, 03:11:58 AM »
Below is possibly a photo of the camera.

- It looks like the old OM style, but doesn't use any existing body styles
- Two dial button left and right beside central prism, and another dial button side at the lens release. Another small button on the left of the lens release
- Grip curve looks like Olympus E-P3, but this one continues to the bottom of camera, paste with leather. Leather has also paste at both side of lens mount.
- Two kinds of leather style. black one is more artificial, and silver one is more natural.
- Packed with a GN10 flash.
- Five-axis image stabilizer in body.
- FAST AF and 3D tracking
- Minimum sensitivity is ISO 200 and maximum sensitivity is ISO 25,600 with tweak.
- 610,000 dots organic EL, vari-angle monitor
- Use MPO as file save type.

Do the new specs still make you feel the same way about the camera? Want to buy it?

Come on... that is plainly an OM-1 with the 17mm m4/3 stuck on it to create a talking point.  :D

Having pooh-poohed the photo,  I will say that the stars are aligning themselves positively. I have pretty much all the lenses I need now (bar a sports tele-zoom)... and an `OM' body purchase looks likely indeed!

That's a great mockup, nothing else. There's a white shadow on the left side of the lens that shouldn't be there.

I like it also... We shall see how close the real one is.

I would guess the OM classic look will be easily noticed, so, this may be very close

I don't think it is a real leak, the Flash Sync and a few other things obviously from a OM camera

LoL - what's the point of a film advance lever on a digital camera?

Hand-crank the dynamo and charge the battery in case of emergency?

I'm still having a hard time imagining this camera will be that ^ similar to the original OM. For one, it won't have a protruding lens mount because of the much shorter FFD of m4/3. And I hope they've managed to design the viewfinder hump so that it doesn't look like a pseudo-DSLR.

And what do you think of the thext "The new seven-point twin cross" in the picture above?
A hint that it indeed will have PDAF?

This is ugly. History is history.
I like retro, but 'modern' retro.

Thy will modernise the body of course.

Yes, we should keep in mind that the E-P1 was (according to Olympus) modeled after the PEN F. Far from identical, but in the same vein. That will most likely be the case with the OM-D too.

Most of the hump on my G3  is the flash, so, the hump can be greatly reduced if it has no flash.. But, a hint of a hump may look OK.

Now the gossip says that the sensor is brand new and not the g3's. THAT would be exciting...
