I use it (and upgraded from the EP1) primarily when using manual focus (either by choice or because I am using a lens that does not AF on the EP2).
I currently only have one "legacy" regular lens - a wonderful Olympus 50mm 1.8 - but am hoping to pickup a mid-range telephoto (something like the Oly 100mm 2.8).
But I also have the Lensbaby Composer with several of their new Optics and those are MUCH easier to focus with the EVF than the screen.

I JUST got my EP2 yesterday.  Loving every second of it as it's my first cam ever.  I mess with the EVF a bit.  But also like using the LCD.  I find that in lower light the evf refresh rate is a bit slow especially using art filters.

So i'm questioning which is the better purchase.  Keeping the EP2 or returning it, and getting the EP1 and using the savings for a lens.  Comments?  Ideas?

Yes...The EVF look great....The response of the EVF during focusing is fast. It bright too..

Low light is better that also....

i just bought a ep2, and i had a question about the vf-2....

when using the vf2, is there a way to set the camera to have the 3second review of the photo on the main LCD after a shutter release?

or is that a dream?  just find myself looking at the lcd after each shot like a regular dslr...

I got my E-P2 for Christmas. I find that am using the EVF almost exclusively. It is almost the same feeling as using an SLR. The main advantage is that I don't have to fuss around with my reading glasses.

It's not included as a feature set in E-P1 / E-P2.
You are right that it's more rational to work that way.
Olympus should consider adding this feature in the update fix.
