E-P2 Bugs
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:36:13 PM »
Hi everyone,

Some bugs found in E-P2.
1. When using the Kit lenes (I mean 17mm and the zoom one) with EVF in Grainy Film Art Filter Mode, the image will freeze when you activate amnual assist.

2. When using the manual lenes (I mean third parties with mount) with EVF in Grainy Film Art Filter Mode, uou see a lot of pink lines inside the EVF.

I called Olympus and they said they will report to Japan office. :-X

Anyone got the same problem??? ???

Didn't the E-P1 have the same problem?
Have you used your E-P1 lately?

Someone mentioned something like that first bug on the E-P1, some problem with the grainy art filter and the mag mode. I tried to reproduce it on my E-P1 from the description above, but could not, but maybe I'm not doing it right...er. ... wrong...

As the EP1 did not have an EVF and on the EP2 using the Grainy Art Filter w/a manual focus lens there are no pink lines (and yes I do get them with the EVF) I doubt if the EP1 "had the same issue".
I think the reason for the "freezing" (and possibly also related to the pink lines problem) in the EVF is that the refresh rate of the EVF is possibly causing a problem. If you notice when using certain filters (the grainy art, pin hole and the new diorama the view (even with the LCD) is not really smooth. The freezing/hesitancy is worse on the EVF than it is on the LCD - possibly caused by a combination of the increased resolution of the EVF and it's refresh rate.

I wonder about Olympus engineers... They have added the ability to insert the EVF, that very good but:
1. the design add for the EVF is so ugly while  comparing  to the rest of the retro classical body of the camera.
2. The EVF has no mechanical secure its in the place just by the friction there is no safety locking mechanizem and it can fall off.
And again the screen issue: too law picxels!!!!!!!!!!!1
I hope Olympus is reading some of our comments..
Too bad....

Too low dots? The EVF has the highest resolution of any EVF that I am aware of in the consumer camera market. It has 1.44 million dots. That means its an equivalent to 800x600 display. The Panasonic G1/GH1 etc use the same resolution EVF as far as I understand while the GF1 one is pathetic.
