It is not a "hate thread" by any means. Or do you really think the E-P1 is perfect?

Anyway, what do I love about the E-P1. I love the E-P1, absolutely. Looks, size, weight, of course IQ, the level gauge, the endless ways to customize it, you name it. It's a great pleasure every time I look at it (often), I handle it (often) and I see the photos it takes. I don't leave home without it. I do love that thing.

The E-P1 isn't perfect, that's why I started that thread. I thought that it was only fair for the camera to start this one to go along with it.

Size, appearance, build quality, and image quality (not in any particular order).

I concur with that list and add versatility.

I use my Pen with old Olympus OM and Schneider made 'Robot' lenses.

My Schneider 40mm f/1.9 lens has had more use with my E-P1 in the last 3 months or so than in the previous 30 years with my Robot Star IIa camera. I tell you what, my shiny metal camera looks stunning with the shiny and very solid (but small) metal Schneider lens.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Size: The small form factor is very liberating coming from an SLR.
Live view:  While I do miss an optical viewfinder, the What u see is what u get capabilities of live view are nice.
Manual Focus.  It's not perfect, but it still beats any optical viewfinder I have used including ones fitted with a Katz eye split prism.
Fully 'cooked' JPEGs.  I have been shooting RAW and processing pictures for years and to be honest I have grown tired of doing so.  I can finally spend more time in the field and less time behind my pc.
Looks.  The camera looks good and feels well made.  It may only be asetetics, but it does inspire one's confidence nevertheless.
It's not the size of the camera, it's all about how you use it....

come on shooter , i think the kevin spacey ads are way cool , i hate television and have not watched it for years , but i love a good movie , i think the ads are very very cool , go look at them

i hope they inspire millions to buy the ep-1

of course there are other ways of getting the message of the olympus pen out to the masses, for instance they could claim that its a ....................very juicy .......[ and sexy machine ]

like this:
Tv Ad - Orangina: Naturally Juicy (and very naughty)

The extremely high image quality to weight ratio!

My travel kit (consisting of camera body, two lenses, and a flash), weighs 1 lb 10 oz!!!  Most of my Nikon lenses weighed more than that!!!

Okay, this could get long.  I really enjoy this camera.  Some of the highlights include:

- retro styling, just a gorgeous camera
- great image quality, very close to my K20D
- looks like a P&S, but shoots like a dSLR (for those places that don't allow "professional" cameras)
- the super menu on the back is very handy and a quick way to adjust settings
- in-body stabilization in all flavors (a must have for me)
- well built (no scratches on mine, and I don't baby it)
- auto metering with fully manual lenses
- there are some unique operating modes that aren't even on my K20D (and that's a highly configurable camera), I can't think of specific examples right now but have often been surprised by the feature set.

I could go on, but suffice to say that I really like the Pen.
Even bad photography can be fun.

Shhhhh, (Wimmen Folk can't read this)
the Pen is just sexi. It's very feminine, not that there's anything wrong with that. The Pannys are masculine in a military way.

I've named my Pen, Penelope and my G1 Butch....
Go figure....

wow shooter , great observation

, the ep-1 is smartly dressed for the evening , elegant and understated , not extremely feminine , imo , casual black tie if you wil........lunless your refering to the  white peach toned version
which is a total beautiful girl, lol
i have a gf-1 and it does seem like a military instrument next to my ep-1

the canon g 10 strikes me the same way , military issue ................... incredible

Something else....
The art filters are great. I never do jpegs but this past weekend I did alot because I needed files fast. I used the soft focus on many portraits and they were beautiful.
All in all, it's THE CAMERA!

Excuse me, sorry.... It's THE SEXI CAMERA!

(will be adding a Leica M fit Voigtländer lens real soon)
