The camera strap, it gets in the way of the shutter.
It's not the size of the camera, it's all about how you use it....

One and only thing, which has already been mentioned ad nauseum in other threads ... very poor indoor/low light autofocus (especially with my G Vario 45-200) combined with no focus assist pre-flash (even with the FL-36).

The power light.
At night it's like a beacon.
I think that most users know if the camera is on. We don't need no stinkin' reminder.
I'm doing a series of Ladys of the Night.
Many have approached me because of the light.
I'd like to think it's my good looks but I know it's the light.

The focusing area is too big. Sometimes I get out of focus photos for that reason.

Focus by wire. Ok, that's more 4/3 system related, but I hate it for MF. It just doesn't feel right...
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

I agree with most of the above however I solved the strap problem by using the Black Rapid "R" strap ... works great...I have the snap attached to an O ring in the right strap bracket.  The focus "square" I do not like at all.  I wish ti had the same system as the other E cameras.  The Power light??  Well, if it attracted the girls on the street it wouldn't do me any good because at my age.....if they were interested...what would I do??

I am sure that future models will address all the problems that are being talked about here and in other places.

All cameras repesent some compromise and while there are ares that could be improved, I am quite happy with the package as a whole.

There certainly are things that I would like to see and these include:

Increased dynamic range

A optional folding hood for the LCD (no, I don't want to look through an EVF regardless of how good it is unless it is around 3"!

Improved AF performance including in low light.

A smaller AF zone.

A higher resolution LCD.

A standard USB port for data transfer.

Built in standard stereo jack for a microphone.

Built in remote control of camera.

At least 1 extra customisable Fn button.

Extras in a more up-market model would be...

A fold out LCD would be nice too even though that would add to the weight and thickness of the camera.

A magnisum or polycarbonate body with ample rubberised bits for grip.

A standard zoom that can take lens hoods without complaint and it would be nice if it had a constant f/2.8 aperture.  Even a 18-36 f/2.8 zoom would be fine and should be compact enough.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

I must admit, reluctantly and not without some grief, that the Panasonic 14-45mm lens is better than E-P1's kit 14-42, which in turn is smaller and looks much nicer on the E-P1. Thankfully, I own them both. I wish the Olympus lens were at least as good.

The camera strap, it gets in the way of the shutter.

That why I use a Gordy wrist strap to keep the camera available for picture taking and have a Nite-Ize S hook on the other side of the camera to attach the camera to my trousers belt loops or a shoulder strap with O ring fitting.

Hi, in P mode you can remove the square box from the "focusing equation" by cycling thru the "info-button" settings to eliminate it and clicking OK. It will remain in that configuration until changed by a "reset" or another recycle.  In addition, the INFO button will access/set other areas of interest(WB, level, Histogram, p-41-42). The multiscreen WB is very useful in adjusting for exposure compensation, and of course the OK-INFO combination will setup the advanced menu system that I use most of the time.
Hope this helps--ChaunceyD

Hi, you can change the AF focusing area by following the steps listed on page 58-59 of the manual. I have my E-P1 set to only focus directly on the center of the image and use S-AF-MF mode as appropriate to adjust/fine-tune the picture.

Hope this helps-ChaunceyD

You can change the location of the focusing area, but not its size. The camera decides what to get in focus within this area, which is not always what I want in focus. It doesn't happen often, but even once is once too many.

The arrow button/ring should have a stiffer spring. It´s too easy to activate the menues for iso-setting or drive mode while rotating the wheel or when the camera is just hanging from your neck.

Second the camera strap comment. The location is poorly engineered and gets in the way of the shutter.

I agree about the camera strap. My solution has been using a wrist strap instead. Problem solved.

The Luigi wrist strap has a tab to protect the finish from scratches. I slip the tab between my 1st 2 fingers and then the camera is very nice to operate....

Maybe -if, they were 'fluorescent'--they would!!. But some don't like the 'Color Green on the "On" button--I guess--- they would like the 'Color Purple' in florescent instead of fluorescent.

I'd like to have tiny little paisley thinggies dancing on the camera.....
in fact, make the body out of an led...then you could program all kind of psydelic stuff....

scuse me while I kiss the sky.......

You can also use rubber "O" rings next to the strap lug connector(in most cases) to accomplish this in a cheaper way with most types of straps. On one of my cameras I have two of them on the lugs(safety first, just in case) to protect the finish(actually, to improve/ reduce the sounds of the strap moving on a camera with lens that weights almost 3 pounds).
