Author Topic: Problem with Manual focus EVF and Grainy art filter (Read 955 times)

Hey any idea why this has happened? Or if anyone else has the same problem?

When using the EVF and MF instead of zooming in and allowing me to focus manually, it just freezes the frame for few seconds, no zooming in, and only does this when using the Grainy Art Filter. All other filters and modes work fine.

Any help ideas or things i can do to fix this?

when i get an ep2 ill try to duplicate the problem , sound like a pain

I am going to try to head out to the camera shop i bought mine from to see if they have another one available so i can duplicate it myself.

I turned off Autofocus assist off and it works fine in the EVF, but when assist is on it just freezes for a second and refuses to move til i stop trying to focus, then it goes back to live view

Bah... this sucks

its my understanding that some of the art filters take up alot of the cameras computers processing power ,
like using the grainy filter on the ep1 in video mode makes for a choppy framerate

perhaps this problem is like the camera hanging for a second and nnot coming back to operational in a good way

Yeah that's true but wouldn't it be the same on the LCD? Or do they have different refresh rates? And I tried it out with all the art filters. Grainy is the only one it does it with. But grainy isn't nearly as choppy as say pinhole or diorama.

This sounds like the previously reported bug in the E-P2, it only is a problem when using the grainy art filter on the EVF, not if you are using the LCD.

Ok so is it a bug with ALL EP2's or just certain batches?

Appears to be all of them, mine does it. I would imagine that Oly will fix this in the first firmware upgrade for the E-P2.
