I rarely take note of studio tests because they don't actually tell us anything. So I've taken it upon myself to prepare two photos taken from the same spot of the same thing with the two cameras, and let you decide what the differences are and why they are different. Also understand that they are not the same exact photos, but that's not the point of this test. Enjoy.

Olympus E-P1 with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Mark I at 42mm

I think there is not much between them.
But in the other post you said there is.....

screw the comparison, these are both amazing

where is this??
I guess...if I HAVE to be technical about it, they both seem equally clipped in the left side of the mountain, and they show more or less the same detail in the illuminated patch in the middle of the mountain. The difference can somewhat be seen in the trees, where there seems to be more DOF in the pentax (more detail perhaps?). I had to really blow them up for this.

A distant shot like this will always lack contrast due to the air not beeing totally transparent. Therefore it's not really suited to comparisons between cameras.

I think both are very good samples... But in the finer detail in the trees, the K-x has the edge... but, not by much. As far as contrast, the E-P1 looks is a little high, maybe use a -1 or -2 setting, and bring it up in editing.

This is mission imposible I think, how can you be sure the takumar doesn't out-resolve the kit lens?

Like I said, I noticed both photos were pretty similar when editing them so I decided to post a test. There's nothing really scientific about it.

The Pentax is sharper and better exposed in my opinion.
