My ultimate body design.
« on: July 25, 2010, 01:48:25 PM »
None of the mirrorless cameras seem to give me what I want. Keep in mind my preference is for manual focusing, manual or aperture priority.

Would like a smaller camera than Pens. That may not be possible yet. They will have to sell many current cameras to afford custom manufactured chips to really shrink the size.

For now in the current size body:

1. Pen rangefinder style body.

2. Built in EFV that matches the current one quality wise.

3. 2 hotshoe/acessory shoes. One centered over lens, other on left hand corner. This would allow flash and external evf to be used at the same time. Also allow right eyed people to to move efv to edge of camera (like E300/330 bodies). Nose isn't smashed into lcd. Really no good reason to have efv stuck in center of camera. Only external flash benefits from that. Olympus copied rangefinders so well they even copied the 60 year old mistakes!

4. Pivoting lcd. Irks me that on a live view only camera the liveview gives up two major advantages to the E30. Weird angle shooting and the ability to flip screen over for protection when storing and carrying.

5. Removable IR filter like Sigma dslrs. This would really make Pens fly off the shelf!

thanks

May I add a thumb-nail size second LCD on top of the body? Would help me a lot shooting from the hip. Reminds me of my first Kodak box camera when I was a kid (Yes, I am that old...  :-)

(Yes, I am that old...  :-)

Mine was an Agfa box....

And yes, an LCD on top would be handy, but there again the swivelling main LCD covers that to a great extent - one of the few pros the GI has over the EPs....

that subject line is misleading....hehehe  ;D

sorry i'd assume most are guys here.

anyway, yeah make the Pen in a aluminium/magnesium body for a lightweight and strong combo. with that, keep the price at sub $1000.

or well, make a whole new system.

make the sensor removable or upgradable. kinda like a sensor back.

make a IR sensor, a pro-sumer sensor (standard), a professional grade sensor, with adjustable sizes. 6x6, 6x7, 645, and even the xpan image size. that will be cool. or dedicated B/W sensor with adjustable setting of yellow, red, blue, green filter. cool.
