I might start with an art filter on occasion, but I always add my own PP to photos unless its just snap shots for family.  I think of PP as my own personal artistic signature look.  If I use an art filter right out of the camera, then my shot isn't anything unique.

Sort if like people using photoshop presets from lightroom.  I've lost count on the number of times I've seen "Polariod 600" preset used on my hipster friends photos.  Of course, they shoot in jpeg, and then delete the original to save drive space.  I don't have the heart to tell them that after about year of looking at that "retro" photo on facebook you will get sick of it and want to see the colors how they were in real life.  Its gotten even worse with everyone using the "retro" camera iphone app.

I've tried it a few times, but that's it.

I use 'em pretty often, and the art filters was the main reason why I did buy Olympus instead of Panasonic Lumix :)
Best wishes to you all!

The grainy filter was nice to use for a while, but I just stopped thinking about when I could use it.

I have used them once or twice when I first got my cameras, just for the novelty value. Don't really consider using them any more.

On my Pentax K5 I shoot alot in B/W and there is 7 different changes and they move 5 places of entertainment. But other then that I never use the other ones. I guess when I buy my E-P? camera I will try them out just to see the results.
Have a good day on your photo outing.....

I quite like them, well, not all of them.... but both 'Grainy B&W' and 'Pinhole' are nice with a 1:1 aspect ratio.

I have less interest in the others, but occasionally use 'Dramatic Tone' when shooting in 16:9 ratio.  Can look good in some situations.

If I do use them, then I prefer to shoot RAW +JPG and then get the choice about how and whether I'll keep the Art Filter ones or not.  That is a feature of Oly cameras that I really apreciate.  My Pentax K-5 shuts off access to any of its fancy filters if you choose RAW+JPG, which is a definite drawback.  I like my K-5... but Oly wins hands down in terms of user satisfaction with filters & settings.

I think I'll try them out a little bit more, as I've forgotten about them myself.

Well i just got my epm1 and i`m really having fun with the dramatic tone filter. With my GF1 i always use the dynamic b&w and mono. With the epl1 and e620 which have both now gone. The grainy filter was often used. Cheers Paul UK

If you wish to look on my flickr link I have just two pics so far both of which I shot using the grainy black n white filter with a 25mm cctv lens.
I have lots more pictures on the camera that I have shot with this filter and love it.

Cool shots, walkingsoul! Believe it or not I've never used the art filters. Maybe I'll play around with them. Thanks for posting.

I've been using 'em for an hour or more now :)

I've been working with my raw files and applied sepia or grainy film to all photos I'm going to leave at the photo store for printing :)
Best wishes to you all!

I like the Art Filters..... best part - shoot RAW and you can choose the Art Filter you want to apply in Olympus Viewer.
Pictures always should have a special story behind it or a special meaning to the photographer.
