Gradiation issues with the PEN?
« on: September 19, 2011, 12:46:21 AM »
I've noticed while going through some of my recent sunrise photos that the E-P1 really doesn't handle the gradiation in the sky very well, clipping it out to white when it really shouldn't be. Any tips for avoiding this?

Clipping = overexposure. Just dial it down with the exposure compensation. If that makes everything else too dark, try Gradation = AUTO.

Experiment with the different color filters. It actually works. The sunset preset on the nex 5 looks like a 14 bit color file.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

That's the thing, I'm not talking about clipping with overexposure, just simply the gradiation between certain color layers. Most noticeable in fog where it "shifts" from a grayish to a bluish color if you have any kind of contrast. I'll see if I can post an example of this.
