Hi

I'm looking for a (probably third party) hot shoe mounted flash trigger for my studio lights, I would prefer it to be a wired one, but wireless will do if needs be.

Does anyone have one that seems reliable and I can search round for a UK supplier?

Also, if anyone has recommendations for a remote shutter release (again corded is fine but I'll look at wireless) that can be used at the same time as a flash trigger I would appreciate your experience.

Thank you

While I don't have an answer to your question, I'm going to bump this up for others to see it!

Hi,
Just look for hot shoe pc adapter at your local store, you can use it than with a cable provided with your studio strobes.
Most of the shops also stock chinese wireless triggers, they come with many names but in principle they are almost all the same.

Cheers
Vlad

You can do a eBay search "Remote Wireless Flash Trigger"

There are 2 wireless types,

1)The kind that plugs in-between your Strobes AC cord and Strobe outlet, with a camera hot-shoe transmitter.

2)And the kind that goes on a light stand and has a hot-shoe for your external flash, with the transmitter that goes on your camera hot-shoe

I have the 1st kind, paid under $25.00 USD    Still works great.

I've tried the RF 602, Cactus V4 and the Cactus V5 on my E-PL2.
The Cactus V4s or V5s gives you get slightly faster sync speed - 1/250 (with no banding) compared with the RF 602 where the fastest sync speed was 1/200 (with no banding).

That said I do like the RF 602 as it's size on the camera doesn't look too silly whereas the V5s looked quite silly sitting on my camera.

Hope this helps..

I am using the RF602's from my old Canon 400D.  As far as i am concerned they are the best of the cheap bunch i have tried.  They are pretty robust, enough to deal with being thrown to the ground by BMXers out of control anyway  ;D  They are small and inobtrusive and from what i have learned will work on strobe units and studio flashes.  Hope this is helpfull.

I use a Pixel brand sync adapter on my E-P1. It has a pass-through hot-shoe as well as the sync terminal. Good but not ideal as it is a Nikon TTL one.

They also make a Canon TTL one and that is pin-compatabile with Olympus so you can still have on-camera TTL or add a TTL cable for additional off camera flash.

Even though I am restricted to manual flash with my adapter, I don't find it an issue in a studio setup.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.
