E-P3 battery life
« on: December 16, 2011, 07:13:02 AM »
Hi Guys,

Just wodnering what you get out of your E-P3 batteries?   All the reviews I read said about 300, which doesn't seem a huge amount coming from DLSRs, but thought that'd be ok.  For the first two charges I did get about 300, but after tghe 3rd charge I'm getting 600-700, which is great!  :D but surprising.

I've only changed the battery about 5 times.  Will it get even better from here or is taht about it?  Be nice to see it make 1000 per charge - that'd be a whole day whout a battery change! :)

It's strange that you're getting different numbers, but my E-P1 can sometimes give me 500 per charge. I don't think it will get better than that. Are you using the LCD or EVF?

It depends on how you shoot and what you do. I get anywhere from 300 to 600 plus shots (I think my best was over 800 on mainly continious shutter) but I would say over 400 is typical. Note that the flash rating standards include firing the flash about 50% of the time so better than 300 is not unusual. The OLED uses a lot less power than the old LCD.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Ah - I never use flash that'd push it up a bit i guess.

I use the LCD, but I tend to turn off the camera if i'm not going to use it for more than a couple of mins which I guess probably helps; I tend to take it out, shoot a bunch of photos (20-50) over a few minutes, then put it away and walk to the next place.

I also get waaay more than 300 shots per battery charge. I rarey let the battery fully drain, so I don't know exactly how many shots I can get, but 600+ sounds about right. I never use the flash, never use art filters, and I always turn the camera off when I'm not shooting.
