Isn't that simply a E-P1 in black?? Is there anything to indicated it's an E-P2? I think given the E-P1 success that adding a black option is not surprising. The old Pens came in black.

I don't think there's anything fake about it necessarily. It's identical to the low res image of the cases with the three colors. To me it just looks like a leak of a new color E-P1. I bet $20 we see a black E-P1. When it was released I thought it was curious that it was available in silver and white, but not black.

But I dont see any reason to think it's an E-P2 unless the E-P2 looks JUST like the E-P1.

The low-res image shows a much more prominent hump beneath the hot shoe. There is also a slight different shape to the profile from this image. This one is a fake, but the low-res image could be real--we won't know until Oly shows us. ;)

I really don't know whether it is real or fake.  However, I did google the document ref: VT518802 and it was from olympus.co.jp!

The link you give doesn't refer to E-P2, but to EP-2 which is not the same thing !
E-P2 is a camera while EP-2 is an Eye Cup!

Olympus HK just announced that a press conference for the introduction of a new MTF DC would be held on next Tuesday Nov 10.  E-P2 is real!

Actually a new camera will bother me.
Why didn't Oly just wait to bring out the newer camera.
So now with my Pen, that's only a few months old, I am once again a beta user for The Company and I even get to pay to test their camera.
Of course this applies to all....

I'll loose faith in Oly again and move to their competition....

In part, I'd also like to see a little longer gap between E-P1 and E-P2, but let's be realistic here. The E-P1 started to be available in July when I got mine. Even if they announce E-P2 shortly, which for now should still be regarded as a rumour, availability is unknown. Rumours are it may be early next year when you can really buy it. If so, that's getting on for half a year gap between them, and no doubt it will come at a premium price, especially when you add the accessories like EVF. It is always a bit of a gamble when you buy the first of anything new. Even with its flaws, I took a chance with the E-P1 and have no regrets. It has served me well and will continue to do so when the E-P2 is around.

The hot shoe in that photo sits higher than the EP-1, but not as bad as the original EP-2 photo.  I still don't care about and EVF and external mic plugin.  If the EP-2 does look like the photo, it will be remembered as the "ugly" pen.

Latest rumor is “…Oly is planning to pretty much follow Panasonic, offering at least an ultra wide (7-14 or 9-18), a fast prime (competing with the pana 20 1.7) and a tele/macro prime.”.  I hope its all true.  What we also need is a fixed f2.8 zoom from 50-100mm at least.  It would be cool if we got a f1.2 prime like the original Pen had.

I think that the EP-2 will most likely be released in June/July of 2010 since that's how long it took for the EP-1 to be released after it was originally announced.  By then I would expect a different sensor plus other bells and whistles besides just an EVF and external mic.

Maybe Fuji and Kodak will also be in the m43 game by then as well.  And, what will Leica release for 2010?  They all ready have the FF M9, the X1 competes with Canon G11, but the digilux 3 and D-Lux4 are out dated.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Pen. It's been a great companion and we work well together. I just feel that making a new model available without further interest in the Pen 1, (firmware update again)...is kinda like a slap on the face. I don't care about the evf thing...seems like a wanna be slr gimmick......but I do care about some thing members here and elsewhere have bought to attention of Oly and each other. Gimme a firmware update, with some meat in it and I'll be content.....

No much surprise for E-P2.  External EVF (much better than the one for GF-1), Higher resolution LCD and HD 1280X1080.

I won't upgrade to E-P2 just because of these slight improvement.  Save my hard earned money for better lens.

Well, so far, the disclosed specs seem like they aren't enough to entice me to upgrade.

- Video, I just don't care. In fact, I've never shot any video with the camera other than a few tests. If the continuous focus was fixed, then maybe it might be more interesting. And what is with that weird new resolution? I'd rather have 60fps.

- Lenses; looks like the same two kit lenses. Nothing to entice me to upgrade to get a new lens with the kit.

- Screen, well, I sort of care about that, although even a factor of 2 more dots does not translate into much greater resolution, and if it means that this new screen is not as visible in bright light then it will be a wash.

- Faster frame rate, I guess I don't care, and 3fps has actually been too fast sometimes even for sports.  So you can shoot 7 frames in 2 seconds instead of 6.

- Faster focus; I might care about this, but nothing has been said. If it is just as fast then so what.

- EFV. Is sort of interesting, but probably expensive. I've had cameras with EFV before, and it might be nice, but I'm not sure.  If they did make a manual focus improvement such as a magnified center field, or allowing half press to switch out of magnify mode, then maybe I'd be interested in the EVF for that.

- Hopefully they don't goof up the image processing with the new chip, that is one thing that the E-P1 really has going for it.

I'll see when it finally becomes available next year or whatever. So far, nothing that would make me excited about upgrading.

New EP-2 pic, specs, and new lenses.  Nothing really that great on the list.  Time to place an order for the Panny 20mm.

OMG that EVF is seriously ugly. Simply looks far too big.

Wonder what "AF tracking" does - and could it be firmware upgraded to the E-P1. Or will it be a deliberate limit to differentiate the models.

That new link says 320k LCD though, not the 640k previously. Either way, I'd consider 920k to be the minimum to make me upgrade.

I don't know what they were thinking with the 14-150mm.  Why not something useful like 42mm-200mm fixed at f2.8 instead?  At least then the kit would make sense.  I guess for people that just want one lens, the 14-150mm is slightly better than the 14-42mm, you only loose 1 f-stop.  The ultra-wide angle is sort of cool, but too slow for most of what I shoot (indoor sports).  I'm thinking that the japanese spec sheet that was leaked earlier might be new firmware updates.

I kind of like the possibility of an M:Zuiko 14-150mm

The aperture range might be a bit slow but hey, that's a lens to use mostly outdoors anyway, between f/5.6 and f/11 to maximize sharpness and DoF.

Together with my Lumix G Vario 7-14mm and the 20mm f/1.7 would nicely round up my arsenal of µ4/3 lenses.

And then Panasonic will release a new Lumix G 100-300mm next year... That'll top it all!

As for the configuration of the E-P2, well, it is not so significantly different from the E-P1 for me to even consider getting it...

God, what a bunch of whiners.  I was seriously hoping this to be a site of informed discussion about a new and exciting digital camera format, but the negativity is overwhelming. If it's so damn bad then go buy a D700. Sheesh.

I like the 14-150mm.  Too bad I have no need for it because I have 14-42mm, and adapters for my Nikon and Minolta telephoto lenses.  The 100-300mm Lumix G is nice, but I hate to pay extra for the OIS.  I would probably opt for the Lumix G 45-200mm mega OIS if it wasn't so expensive.   I guess I should place my order now for the Lumix 20mm f/1.7.

A couple new art filters are in the EP-2.  It looks like the Diorama filter is just a tilt-shift emulator.  The cross-processing filter is neat, I hope we get it with the Olympus Master 2 update if you have EP-1 at least, it will save me some time mucking around with photoshop to produce the equivalent 1984 toxic look.   Other than the rabbit ears hot shoe "upgrade" and EVF, not much else to get excited about.  The external mic thing is sort of stupid imho.  The only reason why I would consider using the mic is to boot leg concerts.  And if that's the case, using an external mic with extension cord will only make security more suspicious about the abilities of my non professional 'point-n-shoot' camera.  Right now the EP-1 flies under the radar as just another iPhone quality recording.
