OMG that EVF is seriously ugly. Simply looks far too big.

Really nothing to be jealous of ...

Fix the AF issue, put a high-res LCD on the back, build in the EVF and make it the same size and shape as the OM-1 and we've got a winner folks! Welcome to the E-M1!!!

I can always hope, ok???

I like the OM more than then the hippo.

The E-P1 is a good start into a new area of photography. The next model should have been something much better than the initial E-P1 ... still don't understood why Olympus did this. Why didn't they provide the E-P1 with the capabilities for an EVF? Didn't they expect that users want this or haven't they been able to implement it a few months ago?

I think that Olympus should have named the E-P2 more like am "E-P1 MarkII" or "E-P1s" of "E-P1+" rather than E-P2 (the current name just raise to much expectations implying to many  improvement which do not exist).

I wish they could have made it look exactly like the OM-1.
Have you used your E-P1 lately?

nice image ghene, a delicious red crimson reminicent of the finest establishments [ according to hollywood  :)  ]with the beautiful ebony object of lust and allure.

i think i once read somewhere on the internet that pics of cameras that were only meant to intice
and whet the appitite , and make us lust after the object in question were nothing more and nothing less than camera porn , and i mean that in the nicest possible way.

anyway , i say this tongue in cheek , i think this is a really lovely and sucessful bit of 'boudoir"     camera photography  , its the most attractive shot of the ep-2 ive seen thus far  ,and aesthetically
it shows the  black e-p 2 about equals the  industrial arts l beauty [almost ] of the gorgeous silver e-p 1

I read elsewhere that the technology that Olympus used in the EVF (I believe I read it was licensed from Epson who patented a new LCD technology very recently) was not available in time to utilize in the EP1. Also - I don't think that Olympus foresaw the extent of the "negative" comments about the lack of an EVF. (Let's be honest here - prior to what Panasonic was able to accomplish on the G1/GH1 most EVF's sucked big time.) Also, I also think that Olympus felt a large portion of their target market were people upgrading from P&S cameras that only had LCDs. I can't tell you how many times I have handed people my E30 so that I could get into a shot and had them stare at the back LCD. Never dawned on them to even LOOK in the OVF!

So do any of you think Olympus will give us the firmware-style upgrades to the E-P1?  I would be happy with manual controls of video.  E-P2 users would still get the accessory port and the other hardware improvements.  Maybe they will if the E-P2 doesn't sell as expected.  I think it will certainly under-perform in sales compared to the E-P1.

I know people have hacked the firmware as well for Canon cameras.  The fact that the E-P2 is so similar to the E-P1 would seem like firmware could be almost directly copied.  Anyone experienced with that?
