Not bad... these numbers are so close, does it matter in comparing then?

How long until they revise it? I mean the sensor is obviously no better than the other ones, but I can't assume it's any worse either. That wouldn't make very much sense.

The IQ improvements, especially at higher ISO is probably mainly from the improved CPUs and software. I'm glad they join the megapixel race, as that just seems to add noise.

DxO is interesting to check out but it doesn't always match what the human eye sees. There is more to "image quality" than pixel by pixel resolution and dynamic range after all.

Get Olympus facebook finished their QA today.  Someone asked why the DXO test results and how the E-P3 sensor tests about as good as the E-P1.  Olympus ignored the question.  Robin Wong posted her high ISO tests, and the images look good.  The most important upgrade I notice is no banding noise.  I wonder how it looks in RAW.

Olympus shouldn't have ignored the question though, makes them look like they know it's a problem. They could have said that DXO tested a beta firmware, not indicative of the final results.

Release is in a few weeks, no way iq will improve until release. Times too short now.

Maybe I don't understand the market of pixel racing, but as all know more pixels is more noise or the camera CPU has to work harder to eliminate the noise, ISOP 1600 is a thumb limit for normal use anything above will be noisy even in Canon 1D camera, do we want a camera or a FLIR? Looks to me too much

I respecfully disagree, ISO 1600 is not enough, at the very very least ISO 3200 should be usable. I also disagree about how noisy ISO 1600 is. If people would stop concentrating on the 200% crops dpreview presents wit noise reduction set to zero and start looking at the more important aspects (resolution in lines, absolute detail, like what the ep3 has) then they could start to see the real potential of these cameras. I said this about the g3, and I was fought with and even mocked, and then I caught my hands on a ISO 6400 jpeg and did this:

Oooo and I haven't heard a peep from those people about the results... I wander why?
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

But ISO 3200 didn't really even exist until about 5 years ago.

And yet people didnt complain as much... Back then despite the fast glass there were a lot of missed photos because of the limited ISO, people just accepted it, Back then guaranteeing 150 photos at a wedding was a real task. Now we have ISO 12k and we complain about it, when it someday manages to be clean people will find something to complain about that too. Im just happy its there, and that its so easy to clean and use.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
