Brand New EPL1 freezing up?? (Newb Here)
« on: January 05, 2011, 12:01:07 AM »
OK, So I got a EPL1 for xmas from my wife as my old point and shoot died and we were doing a cross country road trip.  Within the first 30 minutes of shooting, the screen when black (like i had a lens cap on) and wouldnt take a pic in I-Auto mode.  I switched it to P held down the shoot button, it would then take a black pic then resume working.  It did this through the whole tripe ever say 20-30 shots.  I would sometimes have to shut off the camera, sometimes just keep trying to take pics eventually the screen would pop back on.

This happen to anyone?? or did i just get a defect?  It seems to be doing it when saving to the flash card, could it be my cheap SD card?

Any help would be appreciated!

I think you have a bad shutter. I hope you're under warranty, if you are then Olympus will fix whatever it is for you!

Try to remove the lens and place it back on again.

i also think the remounting of the lens should help......... could be contacts...... could be the pin i would check the contacts for dirt or oil and un mount and mount  the lens several times in succession to ensure that the contacts are touching ,and the pin is audibly clicking when its locked on the camera

More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
