Are you going to buy any of these new cameras?
« on: June 26, 2011, 11:40:25 AM »
Despite the fact that only details have been leaked and a few photos as of now, do any of them interest you? Which ones?

E-P3 does. Not sure if I will be able to buy it though...

I would like to know more about the coming ZD lenses beyond the 12/2 and 45/1.7. The body is essentially a light tight box. The lenses are the real show. Besides, I would prefer a little more details on the bodies themselves, particularly the EP3.

WRT lenses, I wonder if ZD is offering their own pro normal lens and whether the previously rumored 50/1.7 macro will become a reality. A fast 12/2, a 50/1.7 macro, and a ZD pro normal would make a solid basic kit with fast AF.

In functionality, the PL3 is a maybe. While it has a lot of nice features, between compacts and DSLRs the gap for it is now very narrow so I'm not sure I'll bother.
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

If the E-PL3 has an articulated screen, as rumored, and the price is right, I'll sell my E-600 and get one.

i gonna respectfully disagree with you a little there jap, the light tight box was a truism
in the days of film when the equasion of which light tight box was best was pretty much
made moot by the fact that film could and would be changed .two very different cameras with the same film were distinguished by different lenses , not by the cameras to any meaningful degree

advances in films speed  and film grain assured that the light tight box was as able as any other as long as they had the same film inside , and yes ,the lenses are what seperated the merely good from the great for those machines

now that the light tight box is forever married to one sensor of finite sensitivity  and noise profiles and pixels, as that body ages, it falls behind  more recent models in the quality  of the files produced ...sad but true

put another  way .... the show is a dance between a sensor and the lenses
great lenses put in front of a ho hum sensor will not steal any show

imho

It's been called the best 4/3s sensor to date, and testers say the iq surpasses anything the gh2 can dish out. They also say dynamic range has significantly improved (more in the shadows than the highlights). I see a lot of people getting it. I'm quite excited to see how it does.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

I still think Olympus will trail behind the standard setting GH2 & G3....

I would like to get the E-P3, but need to understand the flash options while using the EVF2.

Think the pop-up will fill most needs, but not sure about other flash options.   Will it have wireless flash like the E-PL1?  Hope so....

Can you mount a larger flash off the the side using the tripod mount and trigger off wireless remote?

Flash is an area I really need to understand and learn more about.

Planning on getting the E-P3 for autofocus speed, operational speed improvements and faddition of fill flash/flash in a pinch, since I never vary flash, but like to have the capability if necessary

I will be getting the e-p3. I have been wanting a second body. It's not everything that I want, but seems lime a step up from my ep-2. I can't consider Panasonic, can't live without the IBIS

The E-P3 to replace my E-P1 but I must admit that the E-PL3's fold out LCD would be very handy for a lot of what I do.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

I am thinking of ordering a white e-pm1, once it is released, if it is $500 or less.  I think it would be a convenient carry camera.

I just placed my order for the E-P3 with 17mm lens in black.  Only 5 left on Amazon.

I don't have budget for both the new lenses and a body. So I'll get the lenses first and hope that we know something about the Pen Pro when I'm ready to invest in a new body.

No I'm going to take advantage of the price drop to acquire an E-P2.
That's what I did when the E-P2 came out. It made my E-P1 affordable, and I absolutely love it.
Still use my my E-PL1 more as my pont and shoot.
