Apple iMovie

So far my iMovie has picked up every camera I own --except for my e-p1. Maybe there is a workaround?

That's odd, considering iMovie should recognize the file format.

Would you tell us what specific problem you encountered in iMovie?
I am fine integrating 720p HD clips and photos from E-P2 to make a short video in iMovie '09 (v.8.0.5)

I forgot what format the E-P1 saves video in. Is it .avi or .mpg?

My ep1 connects to iphoto and Aperture fine.

When I open iMovie and click import from camera, it only sees the iSight built-in webcam.

Hi lorenski,

I do not use Oly-USB cable to mount SD in my PEN.
SD card reader is much more handy to me.
(I keep the bundled Oly-USB cable in a safe place in case a firmware update for my E-P2 is available. Pardon me I did not take it out and try your scenarios)

In iMovie, the "Import from Camera" in the menu is used on video clips of supported file structures of mounted volume. I think it's specifically for AVCHD (both 720p and 1080i/p). My Canon HF100 imports like this way.

E-P1/P2 records movies in MotionJPEG AVI. You can use File -> Import -> Movies ... to locate the AVI you want to import as long as the SD has been recognized as a standalone mounted volume on Finder Desktop either in a SD reader or inside the PEN.

I've tried and it should work.

My workflow for archiving clips from my E-P2:

- Take out the SD card
- Mounted the SD on Finder with a card reader
- Image Capture opens and imports to a pre-defined location with date info inscribed to the prefix of the files - both photos and AVI videos
- Geotag if appropriate with GPS .GPX files (for photos taken during trips)
- Import to iPhoto
- Tweaking, Crop, in iPhoto if necessary
- If movies making is needed, open iMovie and find the imported clips under Mac volume / "iPhoto Videos".

Hope it helps.

Gareth

Thanks Gareth.
Okay, You gave me a clue and I got it...

1. iMovie
2. File
3. Import
4. Movies
5. Camera
6. DCIM
7. 100OLYMP
8. *.AVI
9. Import
10.  :D

My card reader is in the mail, I'll go that route when it gets in.
