is there an explanation to this?
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

No other explanation other than that I posted this thread to show a positive review of the E-P3.... :)

The dpreview test shots (jpeg only as of yesterday) showed <no> improvement over E-PL2. E-PL2 was btw the cleanest of all pens, but progress would be much appreciated, having in mid that high-ISO is the new megapixel race.

Yes ,
These E-P3 reviews are a confusing lot to me, an E-PL2 owner....some show improvements, others....don't ....

The shutter speed selection seems odd.  1/5th for the E-P3 and 1/15th for the Canon 5D.  To be fair he should have set the aperture to f2 on the E-P3, or f8 on the Canon since that would give the equivalent DOF and keep the shutter speed the same.  I don't know if the E-P3 will perform better or worse in that case, but it seems more of an even test.

All of these sensor noise reviews seems to contradict one another.  They most likely were not running the same firmware versions.

So, then, what the hell is going on??! Why are results different on different sites??!

Simple, every test starts with an idea. And the test is only to prove the idea to be correct or incorrect for that matter.
main gear: Canon EOS 600D, Canon 5D, Nikon D3100, Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-520

Must have been a typo that has been corrected as the site definitely says 1/15s for all.

I cannot imagine getting that good a result out of my E-P3. I restrict my ISO to around 2000.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.
