Vivitar 28/2.5, what adapter?
« on: February 01, 2011, 08:47:09 AM »
Hi!

I bought an old Vivitar 28mm f/2.5 without lens caps, and have no idea what adapter I should buy so it will fit on my Olympus E-P1.

The serialnumber is: 22508326, which according to this site: http://www.cameraquest.com/VivLensManuf.htm
mean it's a Kino/Kiron. But I can't find any adapters for Kino/Kiron->m4/3.

Anybody got any tips?

Vivitar (also Kiron, etc) made lenses for many lens mounts. You have to figure out what mount your lens has.

I know, that's the problem. I have no idea what mount it is.

Some times there are initials on the base...
Like:  PK, N, C, MD....
See if it has any...

And go to a USED camera store and compare the mounts...
And, can you take photograph of it, and post it?
An overhead view and one with an angled overhead view would give us a good idea.

Yeah, taking a few detailed photos of the lens mount will be nice.

It says M/SR.

Is that the same as Minolta MD?

I can't say myself, but that seems to be the most reasonable one. Why not check and compare with Minolta MD photos over the internet?

Yes, Minolta MD...
The SR has to do with the SRT series mount.. SRT 101, 201
Minolta had an earlier mount that had a external connection, much like how the early Miranda or Exakta lenses had.
