How useful are Pentax 110 lenses for landscape photography?
« on: April 20, 2011, 05:14:46 PM »
Preparing for another photo trip with FF man. He says we are taking a +5mile hike. He has backpack for Nikon FF & Canon 7D (2 2.8 lenses for each camera). I am not carrying that much stuff on a 5 mile hike. Thinking E-PL1 w14-42 kit and Pentax 110 25 & 50 lenses. FF man's expression would be pricelss.

How useful for landscape is a normal and tele lens that are "stuck" wide open at F2.8? Doesn't seem it would be too bad for the tele.
thanks

You'll bump into the 1/2000 shutter speed limitation. If it's sunny, they'll be completely useless. You may succeed in using the 50/2.8 in shadow areas, for creating portraits with bokeh, etc.

a nd d filter is useful when the exposure wall is hit ,   but the 18 mm is a fine and useful lens

go with iso 100 to knock off a stop

Or use ND (Neutral Density) filter, i have a nice round plate set with UV, ND 2x, ND4x with 30,5mm thread, perhaps you might not use them with addition for avoiding vignetting (as the original sunshade too).

If you already own ND filters with a larger thread try to find an adapter 30,5mm to XXmm.
