Carl Zeiss planar 50mm 1.8
« on: June 11, 2011, 01:04:27 PM »
I have the opportunity to buy an old rollei camera with a Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.8 planar hft lens for 50 dollars. Someone experience with this lens? Didn't find any samples here and on the net.

yes i own a rollei 50 planar 1.8 lens with an adapter, its a true planar design and commendably sharp as so many lenses in this F L are
, its nice and i love the rollei brand , as meaningless as that sounds
ill post a sample ansd a shot of the lens here in a few minutes

EDIT
rollei planar 50 MM 1.8
for the record the rj adapter i use on this lens does not allow focus at infinity , there is a problem , its a smidgeon too long takenoff the adapter its plain that the lens could achieve inf focus if it were closer to the sensor , i dont know if this is specific to my lens... my adapter.. or both

I think I going love the Planar also...
Nice samples. Any repair shop can ajust the Lens INF Focus stop point to match the adapter you use with it. But, they will need to have a m4/3 body to do it on.. not many would buy one just for that.. if you had a spare body, you could send all 3 peices to them, so you know it is done right... it is a 5min adjustment.

The first picture looks really nice. Nice colors and rendering.

Do you know if their are  M4/3 adapters with infinity available for this lens ? What mount is it anyway ?

Never heard of that Voigtlander... But, they made a lot of lenses in SLR mounts.

Will you make a Lens Sample Thread for these in the "Lens Sample Archive"?  If one isn't started yet?

Sorry for asking what might be obvious, but what kind of mount does this lens have?

THE RJ adapter says

rollei-m4/3

the 2 lenses that fit this adapter have extremenly similar looking front and rear elements but different barrels and focus rings etc

the rollei branded  planar inscribes dosent achieve infinity focus.. the voigtlander color ultron does
i believe them to be identical planars optically
