Adventures in Macro-Land with a broken 25/1.4 C-mount lens
« on: December 07, 2011, 12:58:12 PM »
Equipment:  Run-of-the-mill cheap 25mm f/1.4 C-mount lens.
Issue:  Very tight focus twist.
Action taken:  Dis-assemble lens and carefully Dremel some interior surfaces of lens barrel.
Action result:  Did the trick.
Action side-effect:  Lens does NOT re-assemble to original state.
New Role:  The focus portion of the lens barrel will un-twist 7mm, thus creating a 7mm extension.
Result of new role:  My new Mu43 Macro lens...sort of.

Examples:
Not intended to be a crispy macro, but only to illustrate the closer focusing of this lens extended 7mm.

Regular focus, MFD...about .35/meter

7mm extension, MFD...closer than .35/meter

The lens in normal state:

The lens at maximum extension:

"Real" images to come later...

Leads to an interesting effect, I must say. I like the photos.

I do plan on trying this out in actual macro territory, just been really busy at the moment.  Also, I need to rig a tube to slap on the gaping center.

Not particularly quality macro, but it is rather cheap...
