Any perspective on a public forum is of course going to be biased. It's all just a fun survey to see what people like the most. It doesn't matter what shortcomings some cameras have if they excel in other areas. By all logic I shouldn't like the E-P1, but I love it, and I can't find another Micro Four Thirds camera that I've used that I like more.
You asked for the best overall camera, not the one that we like the most. I have both the E-P1 and GH2 and there is no question which camera excels in almost every measurable parameter, although I like the look of the PEN better. Almost the only time I use the E-P1 these days is when I want a smaller profile. And the E-P3, for all its nice features and accessories, is not as complete a package as the GH2 which can do almost anything a full-sized DSLR can do and is better at some things. Of course, all this may change when a new model is introduced, and today's "best" will take its place on the bench.
E-3/5, E-P1, GH2

By asking for the best overall camera, I am asking for each user's subjective opinions from experience and things they've read and seen on which camera they think is best. I think the E-P1 is the best overall camera for a variety of reasons, but some people will think it's the GX1, or the GH2.

Subjective, Yes....
Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and it looks like the EP1, EP3, GH2 and GX1 seem to meet most of the wants of consumers so far.
The more votes, the more accurate the sampling of what features are most popular.
So a EVF-Less body is more popular.
Also, Olympus offers ONLY EVF=Less bodies, where Panasonic offers both, 2 totally different EVF-Less bodies...with 2 totally different EVF bodies.

I love my E-P1, but the interface is clunky (it is incredibly difficult to change settings rapidly, the whole 'some functions are only available in some view modes' such as focus zoom, is horrible), the image quality isn't as good as the newer cameras (though still very good), autofocus is horribly slow, and even worse, it is tremendously difficult to focus on close items that are small.

While I have grown to love Panasonic's attention to detail in the interface department (EVERYTHING is easily changed, with most things having dedicated switches or buttons), and the blazing fast AF and outstanding IQ of my GH2, I do understand the affection for the beautiful Pen from a style and feel point of view.  What I don't understand is preferring the E-P1 to the E-P3...which has essentially the same great looks, and even still shares many of the interface issues, but has a little better IQ and MARKEDLY better autofocus, plus a better screen.

My pick is my GH2, as the usability factor is just so high.  It's the most photographer friendly camera I've ever used...everything is just there.  It's the main reason I'm seriously considering selling my E-P1 (which is now relegated to just 'really small' duty), and picking up a GX1.  If I did that, I'd sell my GH1 too, as the IQ should be good enough to be a true backup to the GH2, though I also really like the GH1.  Image quality is almost as good as the GH2, with almost as good AF, but the interface isn't quite as well thought out.  Still, great camera.

I have a very different definition of what overall means
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Maybe it should more aptly be titled "Lets find out which M4/3 camera is the most popular." My only thought from the start was that if someone came to this forum and clicked on the thread of which is the best overall, they would be totally misled by the poll results.

There are already 68 messages on this topic at dpreview (which links to here), although 11 of them are by one person. The message titles display a wide range of opinion: "E-P3 easily," "With no doubt: GH2," "The answer is clear - the GX1," "NEX-7," "The one with you," and "Too many to choose from." No poll at dpreview but I don't see much E-P1 love.

Voyager has become pretty good at topics which generate posts, probably all he was trying to do.  ;)

I'm sure a lot of people love the pen profoundly over there, but it can't be the best overall.

You'd think so, but that's not in fact true. Most of the topics I start generate fewer posts than I expect, while other members can do so very easily. I was amazed by the results at Dpreview though, as every unique answer is almost different. When starting this, I figured everyone would go with the E-P1, as it's the name of this forum, or the GX1 as it's the newest camera. I am surprised.

Scott Bourne names the E-P3 his Camera of the Year. Although noting that the field was shallow this year, he likes the E-P3 over his large selection of cameras. He is particularly fond of the 45mm f1.8 which makes portraits, "...as good as anything I could make with a high-end DSLR." That echos what portrait specialist Kirk Tuck said earlier. High praise indeed.

It is just a fun topic, nothing scientific, nothing more or less.
One thing is clear the retro Pens are popular here!

Interesting results though, I wouldn't expect the E-P3 to win a poll on E-P1.net.
