Misfits TV series using Panasonic AG-AF100?
« on: November 16, 2011, 11:08:05 PM »
If you haven't seen Misfits yet a british TV series that is sort of like a demented version of Heroes.  It has some super cool cinematography using tilt shift lenses.  I wonder if they are filming using the Panasonic AG-AF100 will Lensbaby Tilt Shift adapter for m43.  The bokeh does look super creamy as if it were from Lensbaby.

It'll be awkward if it gets cancelled.

I'm still watching season 2.  Season 3 is out now.  I don't see it getting cancelled considering they won BAFTA for best Drama.  They are supposed to make a U.S. version, but I doubt it will be as witty and raw.

american remakes of british  tv and film successes are always designed to be  less intellectually challenging  than the originals, this is by design , as in schoolbooks , novels  and all forms of culture in the heavily controlled and monitered "culture "of america , free flowing and organic on the one hand , and subtle guidance on the other  the ford and Rockefeller foundations led the way in these directives in the early parts of the 20 c , and there are numerous documents to show this is true   and since 1946 this has been  more or less guided by the nsa and underling depts  following these mandates, as some may know the main mission  of the cia isnt spy stuff in russia  and casablanca but tho shape the thinking and attitudes of the american people , this too is well documented and known but rarely if ever mentioned  anywhere in  the united states where it might be read by mr joe public .

the irony is they have never tried to hide these doings and  FOI and other documentation shows that this is heavily entrenched ongoing plan  , it is well documented , but never metioned by 99.9 % of new and reportage instruments , niether by historians , or even so called critics such as chomsky or  howard zinn

end of rant ,

now when is a pen or panny pro with evf internal in  a rf formfactor coming out , im getting sick of waiting, any ?guesses

I got sick of waiting for cheap fast zoomies, so I just bought a Lensbaby Composer with Tilt Transformer for m43, and creative aperture kit.  Psychedelic night life here I come.

They probably aren't using an AG-AF100. The word is that BBC don't 'approve' of the AG-AF100.

It's not on the BBC, it's on chanel 4 which started as an Indie chanel.  They are quite well known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to TV Scheduling.

Actually its a channel that wants to give the impression of being an "Indie chanel" (sic). I've done some work for Channel 4 producers in the past and it is totally a buttoned-down corporate professional organization.

They make some exceptions for cameras used in reality stuff but they have a technical spec manual (like most broadcasters do) and here is what the manual says:

2 Technical Requirements - Video
2.1 High Definition Format
All material delivered for UK HD TV transmission must be:
• 1920 x 1080 pixels in an aspect ratio of 16:9
• 25 frames per second (50 fields) interlaced - now known as 1080i/25.
• colour sub-sampled at a ratio of 4:2:2
The HD format is fully specified in ITU-R BT.709-5 Part 2.

The AF100 won't do 4:2:2 colour in camera, it can be done with an outboard recorder but if the camera isn't on the approved list (and channel 4 has a list) most producers aren't going to risk the gatekeeper challenge.

Pretty much identical to BBC delivery specs which shouldn't be surprising, PBS delivery specs are pretty much identical to Discovery/TW

My Lensbaby composer with Tilt transformer arrived today.  All I can say is WOW! The build quality totally blew my mind.  It's made out of steel.  From the photos online, I always thought it was high grade plastic.  Without any aperture rings, it's at F1.6.  It includes the ultra-sharp double glass optic.  I got the creative aperture pack as well.  Also the tilt transformer works as a m43 to Nikon FX adapter.  So now all of my Nikon lenses are tilt-able!

Oh yeah, I got the Lensbaby 37/52mm lens hood step up ring, which is also made out of steel.  Works great as a lens hood for the 17mm pancake.  Plus, now I can step up to my ND filter and Polarizer.
