What's the best M4/3 wide angle lens for the Olympus?

Thanks,

Depends on how much you can afford. What's your price range?

Ideally a couple of hundred but I could stretch right up to £600 if it's really special. I suppose I don't mind paying if it's worth it.

I have and love the oly m4/3 9-18mm.  It dose have some pin cousin at the wide edge but generates stunning images.  For examples and tests visit and read my posts at my IR blog listed in my signature below.  Good luck in your search!

Thanks Mark, I've been doing some research whilst the replies came in and I'd pretty much fallen in love with the 9-18mm. the only thing that is a slight niggle is the f4.0... not sure if that's something I should be concerned about or does it not make much difference?

Looks like I'll be forking out £450 pretty soon!!!

Well I suppose the best results. I've got a 17mm micro 4/3rds pancake, a 50mm OM1 f1.8 and I wanted something that was going to take decent wide angle landscape shots.

For that wide angle of a lens the f/4 isn't going to be very much of a problem for you.

You haven't said what you want to do with the lens so it is difficult to say what is best for you.

The Olympus 9-18mm is a good choice as a general wide angle zoom and covers a good range. I use it around 90% of the time. Great street lens. I just did a motor show with it. I was going to use the Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 (wich is really a standard), but getting closer and wider meant I got a lot more shots. Even shootin indoors, the slow aperture of the zoom wasn't an issue and I was shooting at f/6.3 to f/8 most of the time anyway to get extra depth of field. I don't think I used it wide open.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

If you could stretch further, the panny 7-14mm will give you a wide angle only full frame owners know about.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Thanks everyone, I'm pretty certain I'm going with the native 9-18mm.
