hi good people of ep1 net. I just got myself an ep1 and ordered a OM 50 f/1.4 AF lens.

I am wondering what's the best adapter to get for this lens? I read some where that some adapter even allow you to use the AF function on the lens?

thanks for your time and sorry about the noobie question. There are so many options out there...

All OM lenses are manual focus. Olympus never made AF lens before creating 4/3 system. AF on E-P1 works only with Zuiko digotal lens. Also, if I am not wrong it is true for newer lenses like 14-42, 40-150 (newer version) 14-54 MkII, 70-300, 9-18. I am not sure about others.
Does anybody have table or list of ZD lenses that support AF?

Olympus made plenty of AF lenses prior to 4/3 - here's an example:

So if I ever want to use the AF on the 4/3 lens, which adapter should I use to carry that over to micro 4/3?

2. I ordered a OM 50 f/1.4, which adapter would you guys recommend for connecting that to the E P1?

For use od 43 lenses with AF support You need MMF-1 : http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer/21693_pen-camera_mmf-1_21781.htm , or similar Panasonic adapter. I saw cheaper adapters on ebay, but those do not support AF. With OM lenses ebay adapters are cheaper than original Olympus MMF-2 (I think thats the label).

I'm not familiar with OM lenses but examined the pages at http://olympus.dementia.org/eSIF/om-sif/lensgroup.htm.

Could not see any 50mm/F1.4 AF there (only the 50mm/F1.8 AF). The AF series does not seem to have an aperture ring which is probably a requirement when using them via an adapter on the E-P1. I would be surprised if the MF-2 OM adapter supports aperture control electronically. Does anybody know? Olympus does not have any manual for the MF-2 on the Web site (http://www.olympus-europa.com/consumer/208_manuals.cfm?prodID=N3594492).

I think MF-2 is good for OM manual lenses. As I saw it does not have any electrical components, it is just simpel tube.

Wow, Interesting. I had no idea Olympus made OM AF lenses. I had never seen these lenses or cameras. Were these ever imported into the U.S.?

The one I got is most likely manual. I was confused by the word "auto," darnnit.

I am working on a return with that ebay seller, because I just bought a Voigtlander f/1.5

Since You have both, You should try both before You sell the lens.
