Score! M.Zuiko 40-150 for $110.
« on: February 22, 2011, 04:50:59 PM »
There was a very short lived deal today at Staples.com for a brand new Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150 (yes, the m4/3 version), for $109 plus tax today.  Snagged one before it dried up...supposed to be delivered tomorrow according to my confirmation, but we'll see.  Pretty awesome!  I have the Panny 45-200, but it's been inconsistent for me, so I'm curious to see what the Zuiko does.  I know it doesn't have IS, but if it's better or similar but more consistent optically, I might sell my 45-200.  If I don't like it, I'll just return it or sell it on eBay for a small profit.  :) I'll post comparison pics soon.

It's back up, but not at the same price...now you can get it for $159 instead of $109.  Mine just arrived, and so far, it looks quite good...and at first blush, a little better than the Panny 45-200, but we'll see.  It's certainly WAY lighter and smaller (half the weight and significantly shorter and narrower).  Fast focusing and so far, in the 10 or so shots I've taken, quite sharp. Oh, and the bokeh looks MUCH nicer, at least in the couple situations I've used it in...no rings or hard edges.

This is a special code, so you'll need to use this link...searching regularly brings it up at the normal price of $259.

The link still says out of stock for me. I was still going to get it at the $159 price.

Someone on another camera board sent me a link to Staples today, but by the time I followed it, the lens was back up to $249.99 or something like that. Well, I have the OM manual focus lenses at 50 and 100 that covers similar territory . . .

Got a good deal on the VF-2 viewfinder as well.

Went to Staples.com, searched for the VF2, listed price was $279. Found the item number (905932) in the description box. Did a new search using the item number plus  -L1 (905932-L1). The new result listed the price as $199.

The -L1 works on quite a few items actually. The 17mm works with it too.

The $30 coupon only costs $2.50 and you can pay using your paypal account.

I tried that Voyager but it only knocked $50 off the price. $250 is still too steep.
