Questions on Olympus 4/3 lenses.
« on: November 12, 2010, 07:59:21 AM »
Is the manual focus on the Olympus 4/3 lenses digital  like the m4/3 lenses (you can turn the focus ring infinitely)? That's one of the main reasons why I've been using the classic OM lenses.

Also, what are the best-for-the-value Olympus 4/3 lenses? Like for OM lenses, it was 50mm f1.8, 28mm f3.5, etc...

Olympus E-P2, VF-2, MF-2: OM 28 2.8, OM 28mm 3.5, OM 50mm 1.8 (25mm OM extension tube), OM 100mm 2.8, C-M Pentax 25mm f/1.4

Lumix G3: 20 1.7

Yep to the first question - got on my nerves using it; like you I've stuck with MF (including OM)
The 14-42mm kit lens can be picked up really cheap now, particularly people selling it off 'new' when they've bought the package.

I've had some grumbles about it but it is capable of some quite stunning results.

The standard grade lenses are digital focus, but the high and super high grade lenses are manual.  The Zuiko 50-200mm f2.8 is a pretty good prices now at around $900.  That is one I suspect Olympus is planning on releasing for m43 as high grade, whenever they start selling high grade m43 lenses.

BTW, Sigma and Leica 4/3 have real manual focusing ring. At least some of them.

They NEED to start yesterday. Panny is way ahead on this.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
