If you haven't noticed, the January sales have started - spotted this low low price for the Panny 20mm:

£199 incl VAT (unboxed) is a belter of a price for the UK, I've ordered one on passed the tip to sirlyos.....

Did a check on Harrison's (based in Sheffield) and they seem clean so doubt this is a dodgy import.

The lowest on ebay from genuine UK sellers seems to be about GBP 300. I am not surprised these sold out so quickly at 199.

Not as great, but Jacobs have it at £250 and a bunch of other places not much more.

Will get even worse in the New Year when the tax is increased to 20% but we pay more in £ to the $ equivalent even before tax for some obscure reason that escapes most of us....

i frequently read ads from the uk , even before the unfair vat, prices are not in line with the usa i believe the rest of europe is similarly burdened.... bulgaria being a case in point

Indeed, when shopping online i regularly buy from UK sites; somehow the converted pound price including shipping is often a lot less than the price in euros on a dutch or german site..
Even more so in US shops, but they almost never want to mark the parcel as a gift to avoid the additional tax at the border

By the way, EU counties have an additional regulation related with electronic waste disposal. It generally states that the importer must have a contract with a waste disposal company for every electronic or electrical appliance they import or produce. I don't know how much this costs actually, but I guess we are paying for it at the end of the chain.
