Olympus OM 10 -> zuiko 50mm for E-P1 ?
« on: December 28, 2010, 12:51:48 PM »
I found this Olympus camera on a second hand site. I think the camera is broken but the lens seems ok.
Can I use this lens on my Olympus e-p1 and is it a good lens ?

It's a 50mm f1.8 Auto-S - I have one and it's a great lens to use for m4/3 if in good nick (hard to tell from the pic but it doesn't look too bad)

For 10 Euros you can't go wrong really   ;D

OM -> m4/3

Don't get the genuine Olympus adapter as it is damn expensive. Get any adapter of the proper kind from a reputable seller on ebay for example.

Try something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/Olympus-OM-Lens-Micro-4-3-M4-3-M43-Mount-Adapter-/320559245792?pt=Lens_Accessories&hash=item4aa2d1e9e0
If you scroll down it even has a picture of an OM 50mm/f1.8 so you can check how it looks.
Great lens by the way, would be a bargain if you can get it for that price.
Funny, that. The adapter and caps if you want them cost a multitude of the lens and a nice 'shelf' camera

Also interesting (but probably not what you're looking for ;)) is this OM->m43 tilt adapter..

I just picked up the camera and the lens for 10 euros.:) The lens is in very good shape. No scratches... but I see 3 dust particles inside the lens system. I hope it won't affect the photos I will take.
Next step is to buy an adapter :) I'll keep you informed.

I've got an F-Zuiko lens and really like it. It's a bit trickier to get to grips with over modern lenses but you can get brilliant portrait shots with a great depth of field. I've just got the f/1.4 version and it's great in low light situations.

Is it hard to get it focussed with the E-P1 ? Do you use the magnification to focus ?

I don't tend to use the zoom focus because it takes a bit of extra time and I use it for portraits so I need to be snappy so as not to lose the moment. I find I have good enough results with the normal view.

That second set that voyager has linked to are some of my shots and they are all using the regular zoom  8)
