Olympus 9-18 on Panny GF1. Anyone?
« on: January 12, 2011, 07:55:20 AM »
I will be purchasing a GF1 in the next couple of weeks and several lenses.  I am intriqued by the Olympus 9-18 zoom because of it's size.  Also, I shoot mostly with wide angle lenses.  Does anyone here have any experience with this lens on the Panny cameras.  If so, your thoughts?  Thanks, Rick

It will work just as good as any other Panasonic lens would on the camera. The only difference is the color scheme will be a bit off.

I have a mixture of Panasonic and Olympus lenses and there is no significant difference in colour rendering (at least not on my E-P1), nor would I expect there to be.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm is a great lens and handles just about any situation well. I do a lot of shooting into the light at sunrise and sunset, and also with point sources of light such as street lights at night. I haven't encountered a lens of any brand that handles shooting into the light better. It is almost impossible to induce flare and contrast remains very strong.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Thanks to both of you for the replies.  I would be using it on the GF1 for street shooting most of the time and I really like the wide angle range and small size of the lens.  It sounds great.

Thanks, once again.

ive got sort of the opposite thing going on
using the panny 7-14 frequently on my ep 1 and less so on my gf1, it works great on both bodies
but with IS on the oly, im sure the 9-18 will be great i tried it out and its really nice
