Is not telecentricity the reason that 35mm wide angle lenses are larger than 50mm lenses? I just missed an auction (argh) for a Minolta camera with a 28mm lens. That lens is longer than the MD 50mm that was normal. And it's only an f/2.8. I thought that this issue was why. With the short flange distance on the m43, this "issue" can be minimized.

But then again, I'm no engineer, just a guy who shoots pictures.
