Finally a lens deal for Canadians!
« on: November 19, 2010, 01:35:14 PM »
It's not often that I say "wow" to lens prices in Canada, but my jaw dropped when I saw these m4/3 prices on henrys.com:

Olympus 9-18mm: $599 ($150 off)
Olympus 14-150mm: $449 ($200 off)
Olympus 40-150mm: $199 ($130 off)

These prices are competitive--or even better--than the U.S. prices.

Finally something to cheer about for us Canadians. This may be just the inducement I need!

I wander if this a partial effect of the US Fed printing $600b dollars to help reduce national dept?

I think you mean the original Olympus ZD lens (not Micro Four Thirds)? I have never tried it, but it gets great reviews. Not sure about how good it is on Micro Four Thirds. The autofocus is slower because of the adapter though.

I had an E-510 a few years ago with the ZD 40-150... It is an outstanding lens... Very Sharp, and with a #2 close up filter at 150mm. a great macro too... with a dissent Lens to Subject distance.
At 81mm + #2 CloseUp filter

I mean compared to the panasonic M4/3 45-200mm OIS f' 4-5.6 that you had mentioned before at various threads such as : http://e-p1.net/lens-sample-photo-archive/panasonic-lumix-g-vario-45-200mm-f4-0-5-6-mega-o-i-s-lens-samples/msg9386/#msg9386

Yes, I know...but like I said I have not used either lens. I'm sure other forum members have though, so we'll see what they have to add!

Well, I couldn't resist the $200 discount (you definitely do not see this every day in Canada), so I sprang for the 14-150. Should be arriving today!  :)
