Couldn't resist (pana 100-300)
« on: October 25, 2010, 03:00:16 PM »
I couldn't resist, and pre-ordered the pana 100-300 a sec ago..
Hope to shoot some birds/monkeys with it on my upcoming travels.

It should arrive around november 11, can't wait!

Anybody else here without a spine?  ;)

You do realize you have a Micro Four Thirds camera right? I hope those are some slow birds. :-P

Haha i was thinking of the sitting-on-a-branch kind of birds; saw enough toucans, parrots and all kinds of wildly colored birds doing exactly that on my last trip to central america!
Also, colibris tend to hang rather still when sipping nectar, even got some nice shots of those with a lowly P&S

See http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-H-FS100300E-Telezoom-100-300-F4-5-6/dp/B004445O4K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288089745&sr=8-1

This is what they say about the release date:

"This item is due to be released on November 8, 2010.
Please note that release dates are subject to change."

So if this is correct, and they have it in stock in the UK the 8th, i estimate it should arrive at my place in the Netherlands around the 11th...
*fingers crossed*

This happens quite a bit - I benefited when I got my E-P1 six months back. For some unknown reason it dropped by £200 for about 3 days and then went straight back up again.

Voodoo economics....

If they raise the price after you buy it then I doubt you'll have to pay the new price.

I've shot birds in flight with the 45-200mm. I never understood why people found it so frustrating to do with M4/3. In fact I've shot sports too like baseball, basketball (paid for) and surfing (paid for). I only find it a tiny bit easier to do with a mirror.

There seem to be quite some differences between the .com and .co.uk sites:
.co.uk: £549.99 (~$882), release nov 8
.com: $599.95, release nov 22

Too much a price difference now to order-and-ship from the uk if you live in the us i quess..

The UK price almost certainly includes some insane VAT.
