anyone get the Oly 75-300 for {holiday of choice}?
« on: January 02, 2011, 10:28:39 AM »
I so love my 14-150 and am considering the 75-300 for some more semi-serious wildlife photography; anybody have the new beast and can share thoughts, example pics, comparisons to the performance of other similar lenses? Thanks in advance.

I think you're better off getting the Zuiko 70-300 with an adapter...

Nice one claud9999, glad to hear you enjoy the 14-150. That will be my next lens of choice.

That lens sucks, it's not my opinion, it's just the flat out truth. For less money you can get the faster (and better) panny 45-200mm or the super long, faster (and better too) panny 100-300mm.
I dont think there's one person here who'll disagree with me on this.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

I have the panny 45-200mm and really like it although it does make the E-P1 very front heavy and I find it sometimes is hard to keep stable even with I.S. when using it at the long end.

What price?  The 75-300 lens or the 70-300 that Panther suggested?  I went with Panther's advice (actually it's the same advice I got from Olympus tech support).  Rather than pay $900 for the micro lens, get the 4/3 lens for $400 ($300 on Ebay) and a $200 MMF-2 adapter ($104 at Amazon for the panny version) and you'll have a lens that has more range (70-300 vs 75-300) and lets in more light (4.8-6.7 vs 4.0-5.6).
