DxOMark did a test and unfortunatly the new 12-50 lens is not better than current kitlenses.  :'(
And it is very big !

Good to know. I didn't really want it anyway.

All their m4/3 cameras have done it, ever since the E-P1. The lenses are designed with this in mind. Without correction the lenses would not be acceptable. They don't correct for CA though.

I forgot about that, but they don't do it for Panasonic lenses (because that would make sense.)

ok so I did some very profound and intensive digging around and heres the absolute truth (I saw the photos and everything).

-Both panasonic and olympus bodies correct barrel and pincushion distortions for any lens with a m4/3s badge on it.
-Those corrections (on both oly and panny bodies) get carried over on RAW files when using lightroom, aperture, and bible 5 (but not officially on the last one). It doesnt do it on DCRaw.
-Panasonic corrects lateral chromatic aberrations on panasonic lenses.
-Those corrections get carried over on the RAW files when using aperture and lightroom
-Panasonic does not correct lateral aberration on olympus lenses
-Olympus does not correct lateral aberrations in camera on any lens.

it does, you're not the first one to say so, you're seeing distortion because for some unknown reason Olympus corrects on that lens only to the extent that it matches the 4/3s counter part. So there's noticeable barrel distortion at 14mm.

Lisandra, many thanks for digging up this info.

You say Olympus does not correct for lateral chromatic aberration in camera on any of their m4/3 lenses. Does Oly RAW however include the info for lateral color correction?

Given that Panasonic does color and Oly does not, one would expect a somewhat inferior performance when using the 1.7/20 on the Oly.  Has there been any info published/posted on that? I did not see any.

There has, thing is its not too bad that its so noticeable. The lens is good on itself.
