I had the Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 for my M5 before I traded it for the ZM 50mm f/1.5.
The size is about the same. It will be front heavy on a EP or GF series camera, and G/GH also I guess.. But, for a person who shoots a lot of indoor or as the author stated, loves indoor video, this lens is a God send.  f/1.2 or faster is really needed to keep the ISO down under ISO 400 indoors or at night.

I would like Voigtlander to also introduce a 18mm f/1.4  or 18mm f/1.2 (like the 35mm f/1.2 VM mount for 35mm).

But. for under $900.00, a real bargain for sure.

The Voigtlander 25mm f/0.95 is perfectly balanced on the smaller MFT cameras. I have the Olympus E-P1.  You hold a camera using two hands. The right looks after the shutter and thumbwheel etc.  The left cradles the other side of the camera and goes under the lens so you can adjust the focus ring and aperture control. Nothing new here.

Lens quality - it is probably the best MFT lens out.  The only issue is that MFT cameras need more convenient arrangements for using manual focus lenses although the E-P1 is near the bottom of the heap there so maybe others are better.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Lets hope its a darn good lens because I ordered one just minutes ago. I have never liked lenses that are manual but this really is a lovely lens and if it works with coming cameras from Olympus, well then i'm all in for it!

It's currently out of stock but hopefully it will arrive within the next week or so.

I wouldn't worry about the quality of the lens...

You will love .95 f/stop IQ.
One thing Voigtlander is good at, is sharpness wide open, and it gets better as you close it down.

Taken with the Nokton 50mm f/1.1 at f/1.1 with Plus X I think, or Delta Pro 400...
I'd bet the 25mm f/.95 has similar IQ.

I would like Voigtlander to also introduce a 18mm f/1.4  or 18mm f/1.2 (like the 35mm f/1.2 VM mount for 35mm).

Wouldn't that be great! A fast 35mm equivalent . . .  If I might ask, how did you manage with the 50/1.1 "knock your socks off" Voigtlander on the M5. Were you able to get good critical focus with the rangefinder?

charge me 100$ more and give me autofocus!

The M5 has a standard .72 magnification, and that is good enough for lenses this fast. Leica has a .95 50mm, that has no problem. The key is to focus on the eye closest to the camera. The other key is not to be too close, so the DOV is about 1 foot deep. I was about 8 feet away. With a 50mm on a film camera, you can see, there is plenty DOF of my Father in Law.

The Rangefinder is good to .9m about 3 feet, with most lenses, it can focus closer if the lens can. I have a photo of my Son at 1m at f/1.5 with ZM 50mm f/1.5 C-Sonnar (A special lens at f/1.5 and f/2 and 1m, a regular lens from f/2.8 on).

At very wide f/stops, and close distances, picking the right point of focus is critical to the success to the image. The Closest Eye is the best bet. If that is in focus, the rest will fall in place naturally.

Hi all,

the Voigtländer 25mm 0,95 delivers magic photos.
Here a sample GF1 & Voigtländer 25mm 0,95 at f/0,95:

About lenses: Whatever I read (in lens 'Reviews' on the net, or elsewhere), I read.  Finally, I spend a day, - or 'three', if needed, with Flickr, looking up the 'real world' capacity and 'personality' of that certain lens, before purchasing the lens for myself.  WYSIWYG.

By the way: One lens forum I visited, stated that one could not be a member of that forum unless being able to write 'LENS' correctly.  Too many 'lense' around, maybe?

I wonder whether the price of the Voigtlander f0.95 lens will drop with the introduction of the Oly 12mm and Pana Leica 25mm f1.4.

Hopefully it does  :D

Cosina, from my limited experience, set's a price, and sticks with it. Their lenses are very good, not quite Leica in Built, but a high end build, with great optical IQ.

But,  now that they entered the m4/3 market place.. they may need be competitive in this line at least... I don't know if 1 lens is a [line] though.
