I wouldn't call that affordable.

lenstip did a review on it a couple of days ago, it rivals the best canon L glass. Thats a lot to say...
BTW that's the second uber sharp lens Ive seen for M4/3s, apparently they're worth the money...
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Maybe 'affordable' should be read as: ´relevant to what it used to be (sold for)´, - or even: ´with relevance to what I can afford to spend on my hobby (photo)´, - or one's priorities?  I now, as a pensioner, spend (relatively) more funds on cameras & equipment than what I did when ´my role´ was husband/father & main provider for for a family unit. My 'family' nowadays are a small (two persons), my mortgages are all done with, my children are all adults and supporting themselves, and my pension and savings makes my economy allows for many things that prior in life was ´not affordable´, - and I´m grateful & thankful for being in that situation.  May it last for quite a few years more!  :)

Now, to the lens itself:  I´ll second "Lenstip" on that!  I own quite a few L-glass myself, and have had them on different kind of EOS' cameraes, D's & 1's.  Somone on the forum here mentioned it to be a macro lens, - and yes, it is, - but it's also very versatile for other kind of shooting, portrait, general short tele jobs, etc.  It goes very well with my E-P1/2 and the GF1.  I can give it my best recommendation, - if you can 'afford'  the (now) almost $850, US price&funds)  :)  - and pin sharp it is, with great colour rendition. (I would love it to be a tad faster, though, - like f.2.0).

I suppose the Leica branding is the only thing that gives that lens the ability to be called cheap at that price.
