I don't way he said the sharpness was just OK. Seem to me, this lens resolves plenty of finer detail.. The image that has a Greek ruin in the far background holds tons of detail. Granted, there was no post other than a RAW conversion. But, even they had the capability to produce a fine image as this shows...But, the crane has detail at 100%  This is a reduced file to 900pix on the hight.

Wide angle focus is a tricky thing, I would imagine it's even worse with this lens.

They rate things on absolute quality, so for example most zoom lenses do poorly. In this case they're saying resolution wise, it was noticeably below the 20mm f/1.7 which surprised them, but they could find nothing wrong with this lens to suggest there is another reason for it.

I did clarify with them if their resolution figures are before or after distortion correction, and it was after. So that would probably result in a loss of border resolution although it was stated it didn't make a significant difference in the middle.

Wide angle lenses are more difficult to correct for border resolution than normal etc. Most probably the distortion correction in software does not help either.

On the Pen there is no CA autocorrection right?

Is the resolution in the test measured on corrected or uncorrected images?
cheers

In this thread on CA impact on resolution, the short answer given is for sane levels of CA it isn't significant. The 14/2.5 uncorrected is not insane.
