I'm starting to like mine a bit more now after reading this perspective

"Street photography" is a pretty big subject.

While some people prefer long lenses for getting candid shots, I find they are totally impractical in congested areas. They are also useless for shooting buildings or any large object, but are good for capturing architectural details.

In crowded congested cities, where streets are narrow, you cannot "back up enough" so I prefer wider lenses. The wider the better.

Right now my favorite is the Olympus 17mm f/2.8 lens. Some will prefer the Panasonic 20mm lens, but I like the 17mm for a variety of reasons:

- It's wider, almost the ideal lenght
- You don't need f/1.7 in daylight.
- You will be shooting at f/5.8-f/8
- I already own it!

I do think the 45mm f/2.8 is an excellent lens, and probably worth the money. This lens is best suited to portrait and macro work. Because that was what it was designed for.

If you really want to do stealth photography, then I think the 14-140mm or 45-200mm lenses are much better choices.

But now, Panasonic has 14mm f/2.5..... :o

You can buy it for $150 now, which is an amazing price for a prime lens.

Where did you see it for $150 Voyager? I realize that your post is a month old now, but I can't find the 17mm for less than $200 on e-bay. I have the Panasonic 20 but am interested picking the 17 up anyway--wider fov and smaller lens. Anybody have both?

Never use Ebay, prices are horribly more than they should be on there! Buy and sell forums such as FredMiranda and RFF.
