Vivatar 85mm f/1.8 T2 mount *****
« on: April 22, 2011, 01:08:00 PM »
Well I tried out my OLD Vivitar 85mm f/1.8 today on my G1.
It has no Iris (The way I recieved it when I bought it used. I was aware of this).

It's like one of those SLR Magic lenses in image quality (or effect. no real Image Quality)

One Inside, and one Outside....

But, if anyone ever finds one, please put your images in this thread.

Neat Image NR software used, but not too aggressive, this is a soft lens wide open. I am told that stopped down it's better, But I think they are other fast old portraits lenses that are better IE: Jupiter 9 85mm f/2 Russian lens in M42 Pentax Mount.

Inside, ISO 800 f/1.8

Outside ISO 400 f/1.8

It does kinda look like the SLR Magic Toy Lens.

However, what does "no Iris" mean?

It has no f/stops, that part was removed at least two owners ago.

I'm am going to try some daylight stuff on Sat. If it the light isn't too bright. Glad my G1 has a 1/4000s shutter speed.  ;D

Vivatar 85mm f/1.8 (Fixed f/stop) f/1.8
1st day out with this. My shutter speeds were between 1/400 to 1/3200 at f/1.8 and ISO 100.
